How many times are you willing to try?
Risa's summary: Ava and Jesse are willing to try as many times as necessary to create better lives for themselves.
New isn't a path many venture into, but Jesse is far from letting his disability pin him down.
And Ava is willing to piece back her broken mind with his help.
Just a little more time, and love will be strong enough to walk again. It's a peachy, entertaining, character-driven literary piece.
Writing this review was a bit challenging because from the first chapter to the fifth, my emotions were invariable. In one sentence, I'd say: the story flowed nicely.
For me, given the main plot of the story, there wasn't much to go on. Each scene simply fed that one goal, building the relationship between Ava and Jesse.
Although, a little drama was hinted at with Meara and her clique, I'd have appreciated a little more spice, something to shake me up a bit, drag me on, make me want to read more.
Unpredictability and predictability are fine tools to keep a reader engaged if used right. In my desperate search for spice, I also tried to catch a whiff of an interesting sub plot, I caught nothing. It was probably introduced later on in the story, I wouldn't know since I read just five chapters of the book.
Very good work was done with descriptions! There were grammatical errors in certain areas but nothing too strong for a good edit.
The second chapter was a bit off, to me. There were six persons at the table, and four of them seemed to have watched -- in deep fascination, I suppose -- as Ava and Jesse struck a lengthy, hearty conversation. Apparently, none said a word until Melanie asked a random question after the flick.
I loved the simplicity of the book's cover! The book's summary I found catchy.
Paralyzed Love is a heartening read with realistic situations, and characters you could empathize with. I'd recommend this to anyone who'd appreciate a loving and encouraging tale.
