A riveting pull from the ordinary.
Risa's summary: Avery Woodsen has a career driven mindset. A powerful but dangerous tool. She sacrificed everything for her dream and got one step closer.
One step closer to DC.
One step closer to being a diplomat.
One step closer to death.
Trained. Precise. Powerful. Reed Sterling is just the man to offer the protection she needs, and all that's left to worry about is the pull.
The pull of her own ambition.
Maybe of something greater than ambition.
Permit me at this point to scream graciously.
Done.
Now, wow! Far as I read, this story gulped me down like a starving being would. If I had the luxury of time, I would have blown through the entire book.
Starting off, I didn't think it would be my cup of tea; I've never had much interest in books belonging to the action genre. I was very wrong.
The storytelling was almost seamless! The descriptive choices reeled me in and gave me a fine kiss on the cheek. Simple yet utterly effective.
Avery Woodsen is a likeable character, one whose dreams you can understand even while trying to wrap your head around her motivations. Can't forget Kennedy, Ollie, and Rolo. Although I'd only read five chapters, each character stood out to me. I especially found Oliver's obliviousness amusing, Avery's boss lady vibes interesting, and Kennedy's sweetness endearing.
I'm quite certain character development will only grow stronger as the chapters roll by.
Errors were so few I could count on one hand. The one thing I really disliked about this book was its cover, judging by that alone, I certainly wouldn't have picked it up. The book's summary is quite catchy. I found it quite long though; I really have a thing for short summaries.
Plot points seemed strong enough to drive this story to its right home, and I trust this author to do a good job with that. Please do.
Dialogue was strong and so was the writing style, I was still in the process of understanding this Author's voice but sadly, time cut my journey with this book.
In Love and Diplomacy is a refreshing read with a compelling plot and characters you could grow to love. I hope it's your cup of tea/coffee as much as it became mine. I'd recommend this to anyone who'd enjoy a finely written thriller romance with compelling characters.
