Your entire life could change in one second.

Risa's summary: Idaliah's life becomes anything but normal when she enters BcHaven, an unmapped city with more mysteries than it can hold.
It's quite rude but sometimes, life doesn't give one the chance to choose.
On one hand, Ida wants out, on the other, she enjoys what her new life offers.
Something is certain though: she could run, but running is never easier.

Good worldbuilding is essential for both plot and character development, achieving that is a feat. Hence, Gemicide is palmary; its author did a pretty decent job at it.

Show more, tell just enough.
True, true, there are certain times when telling could be more effective than showing, perhaps in the case of an internal narrative. However, I felt like I was continuously being fed something I didn't want. What I wanted was to see more using my imagination with the author's help. Expositions are great, of course, but most times, being told doesn't cut it.
Show me. I want to know how this tastes, how that one smells, how it looks like and how it would feel if I touch it, I want to hear how it sounds.

Grammatical errors were present in tolerable amounts; none was strong enough to kick me off the story. With a good edit, they can be quickly fixed.

Much to my delight, dialogue was so generously used. It certainly helped to establish relationships between characters, advancing plot in the process. Description was commendable, there's ample room for improvement though.

The book's summary didn't catch my interest. Judging by that alone, I wouldn't even open the book. The book's cover I found likeable.

Gemicide is a green read, ready to tickle you with dark mysteries and and an exciting adventure. I would recommend this to anyone who'd love a fantasy starring a main character who isn't quite scared to go beyond the normal.
