Sarah's POV

I blink my eyes open to see a crowd of people around my medical bed that they moved me to, some holding balloons while others hold stuffed animals and sweets of sorts.

"We thought you might be getting out of here today, so we bought you all these kinds of things." Sam suggests

Yes, my med buddy got discharged..yes i'm still here.

"Well she has to get the checkup first, Dr. Cho if you would do the honors." Steve catches

She chuckles as she walks in, holding her stethoscope in her hand as part of it hangs down by her collarbones. She sets it the metal part on my chest and has me take deep breaths before walking over to the cabinet and grabbing me a medical gown.

"I know you wouldn't let us cut the suit off, but I think you can change into this now." she holds it out to me

I take it with a sigh and almost jump from the bed, but I realize it's my first time being completely vertical in the past four days. My left arm is gripped by a extremely familiar hand as my right arm and my back are touched by much less familiar hands that feel comfortable nonetheless.

They help me over to the curtained changing room, Nat sneaking in to help me. She grabs the gel and unfolds it for me as I begin to open the latch on my waist. I get it open and start sliding my left leg out easily, allowing myself to take my time to take the pants from my right leg as I see the square of clothe they cut from the pants.

Well, that'll be fun to fix.

I get the pants from my leg, Nat collecting them to put in the laundry hamper before she goes to help me into the robe. I push her gesture off for a second, leaning back in the wheelchair i'm sitting in. I draw my fingers around my healing wound, sniffling at the memory of getting shot again.

"I know, but we need to get you dressed so you can get out of here." she helps me into the white papery fabric

I suck in my tears and swallow my emotions to fight them from resurfacing. Nat helps me all the way into the gown before helping me from the chair so I can pull it down over my legs. I get it over my butt and pull it down as far as it can go before i'm guided back out into the main room.

She brings me to my bed, stretching my leg as I feel the new muscle pulling with the tension of it moving. I sit perpendicular to the bed as I hang my dirtied feet from the side. Dr. Cho asks me a few questions that I answer as honestly, but tiredly as I can.

Which would be as honest as I get, I guess.

"So, the verdict?" Steve claps his hands

"She's not ready yet. I think she needs another day or two of resting before she's up and mobile, especially because she uses the stairs instead of the elevator. You can bring her around the compound, but don't let her walk if you can." Dr. Cho advises

Tears slip from my eyes before I can hide them, immediately triggering Uncle James into dad mode. He walks over and sits behind me to put both arms around my progressively shaky form. I rub my tired eyes with my not-the-cleanest hands, hoping I can just get back to normal; only thinking of the bad things that have come from this experience.

"I know Doll, I know. But we don't wanna rush healing, if we do, you risk re-injury." he soothes near my ear as he rubs my arms

"I just wanna go back to normal." I turn to hide in his chest as I always have

The group of people that includes Sam, Tony, Steve, Nat, Vision, Rhodey, Happy, Dr. Cho, even a few nurses and Stark Industries employees watch the interaction.
