Peggy's POV

As my mother zips up my wedding dress, I think back to all of the moments that led me to this particular that i'm experiencing in this moment right now.

Someone thumps the stack of newspapers out of my hands before I kneel down to grab them, we knock heads as he tries to get down as well.

"Oh, i'm so sorry ma'am." the man apologizes

"It's alright mister, just trying to keep up with the world." I tell him as I begin to look up from the heap of paper on the sidewalk

I kneel down and begin trying to clean up the mess.

"Steve Rogers, ma'am." he says as he puts his hand out

I look up into his bright blue eyes with, ones that I feel myself drowning in as if i'm swimming on the side of a public highway; with just enough green to keep my feet on the ground.

"Peggy Carter." I smile as I take his gesture

He shakily pulls me from the ground before kneeling down by himself and cleans up the stack of world news.

"Thank you Mr. Rogers, but I mustn't ask you to clean up my mess." I tell him

"It's a mess that I made, I insist." he says before struggling to get up from the ground

I pull his arm up a little bit to help him get off of the ground, he hands me a newspaper before handing the rest back to the stand seller.

"Well if you cleaned up my mess then I want to return the gesture and buy you a cup of coffee." I tell the mature boy looking man in front of me

"That sounds great, but-"

"Hey Pal, I found those cough drops you like. Who is this pretty lady?" a tall brunet says as he walks out of the pharmacy with a paper bag in hand

The brunet man looks over at me and his eyes widen, maybe Mr. Rogers is usually a mean man.

"Who's this?" the stranger asks

"Bucky, this is Peggy. If you hit on her, i'm locking you out of the apartment until you learn how to not butt in to people's conversations." Mr. Rogers tells the man

"Hi, i'm Bucky." the stranger introduces himself

"Nice to meet you, Mr...?" I wait for a last name

"Barnes, but there's no need for formality Ms...?"

"Carter, Peggy Carter." I address with a tired tone

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Carter. I should be taking my buddy home, can't even go near a pond without sneezing." Mr. Barnes chuckles as he puts his arm around Mr. Rogers' shoulders

"It was a pleasure to meet the both of you, I should be getting home anyhow. Thank you for helping me, Mr. Rogers." I thank the both of them

"Call me Steve, I insist." he nods

"I hope to see you again, Steve." I smile calmly before turning around and walking the other way

"Peggy?" I hear my mother ask

"Yes?" I ask

"I'm so proud of you."

"Thank you, Mum." I smile at her as she clips in my veil

"Michael would be proud to see you walk down the aisle."

"I miss him." I admit with a small sniffle
