Journal Entry - 12 March 1917

Tina and I had quite an interesting day today. I met up with Tina in the library, like we always do each morning. But I noticed that this morning was acting strange. She kept looking over her shoulders and pulling her robes tightly around her. When I asked what was wrong, she told me she was just cold.

I didn't think much of it, because it's early March. Ilvermorny is drafty. The fact of my best friend being cold was highly likely. But something told that wasn't it. If she were just cold, she wouldn't have been constantly checking behind her. So, I did something I knew was probably wrong.

I waited until Tina had gone into the one class we don't have together, and I went to find Queenie. Recapping what I observed Tina doing, I asked if Queenie could figure out what was wrong and inform me. I just wanted Tina to be okay, so Queenie agreed. Instead of me waiting outside for Tina, Queenie and I decided she would and then meet me in the restrooms near the Dining Hall.

When Queenie did meet up with me, I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect. Many different ideas ran through my head, but I didn't listen to them. I just waited for Queenie to inform me. When she did tell me, I felt anger rush through my veins. Here's a short paraphrase of what Queenie told me.

'Achilles Tolliver harassed her.'

I'm pretty sure Queenie had more to say, but I didn't listen as I took off into the Dining Hall, found Tolliver, and beat the shit out of him. I didn't even say anything. I just went over to him and beat him to a pulp.

When Tina asked for a reason, I simply stated- I knew I never liked him. Tina kept persisting for an actual response, so after dinner, I pulled her aside and explained what I requested of Queenie and apologized for going behind her back. Tina had every right to be angry with me, but she wasn't.

She smiled at me. Here's a paraphrase of what she said to me.

'I didn't think anyone would care.'
