Chapter 6: The CDC

(AN: I'm back!!!!! It's been a hot second but I have returned and I'm ready to continue the story! This one isn't going to be that long because I'm in school and can't watch Netflix so that means I can't get dialogue, but I will write more tonight! I changed it back to third person because why not? Anyway I hope you enjoy the story.)

When the group arrived at the CDC it was quiet, everyone slowly got out of their cars and walked past hundreds of bodies laying on the floor. Alexis starts to cough and Rick pats her shoulder as he tells everyone to keep moving. They get to the shutter door as Rick and Shane try to open the door. Shane pounds on the door trying to get it open which in Alexis's opinion was a terrible idea. ¨No one's here.¨ T-dog says, looking at Rick.

¨Then why are the shutters down?¨

Daryl grabs Alexis's attention by rapidly hitting her shoulder, ¨Walkers.¨ He whispered but then got into action. ¨Walkers!¨ He screamed.

Everyone started freaking out and Daryl turned to Rick furious, ¨You led us to a graveyard!.¨

¨He made a call.¨ Dale says defending Rick.

¨It was the wrong damn call!¨

¨Just shut up, you hear me?¨ Shane yells. ¨Rick this is a dead end.¨

Carol cuts him off holding on tight to her daughter, ¨Where are we going to go?¨

Shane, Rick and Lori start talking about leaving when walkers start to bile in, ¨Less talking more running.¨ Alexis says, grabbing her knife from the holder and going into action, slowly making her way towards the cars.

¨The camera moved.¨

¨You imagined it.¨ Dale exclaimes.

I stab a walker as everyone tries to get Rick to leave. He didn't want to leave, ¨YOU'RE KILLING US. YOU'RE KILLING US!¨ He yelled over and over until light broke out.

The shutters slowly started to rise as everyone stopped and stared at the blaring light that blinded the group as they got close.

The CDC is alive.

Everyone rushes inside and looks around the big building as Rick repeats over and over, ¨Hello?¨

A gun cocks and every points their weapons at the mystery man that came from out of nowhere, ¨Anyone infected?¨

¨One of our group was. He didn't make it.¨ Rick explained.

¨Why are you here? What do you want?¨ The man asked.

¨A chance.¨

¨That's asking an awful lot these days.¨ The man says.

¨I know.¨ Rick says as silence falls over the group.

Everyone stood looking around as the man finally spoke up, ¨You all submit to a blood test. That's the price of admission.¨

¨We can do that.¨ Rick says.

¨You got stuff to bring in, you do it now. Once this door closes, it stays closed.¨ The man explained rushing us to the door.

Alexis runs to Daryl's truck and grabs a bag and a few other things she brought, Daryl grabs his stuff and grabs out her before they could go back, ¨Listen I really don't have a good feeling about this guy but if anything goes down, you run got it?¨

¨Okay dad.¨ Alexis says sarcastically and he scoffs and grabs her arm again.

He stares at her with all seriousness, their breaths both are heavy as they just stare at each other, he looks away and starts walking back, ¨I'm being serious.¨

The girl stood there in awe as he walked away, she had no clue what just happened but whatever just happened to her, but what even that was she didn't want him to let go. The way he stared into her eyes made her rethink her entire feelings for the man. Alexis at that moment could swear that the world around her stopped, no walkers could stop what just happened. After a second of being in a daze she finally refocused on the world around her and ran after the man, ¨Wait Daryl!¨

Daryl turns and looks at the girl when she approaches, ¨Hm?¨

Alexis looks at him and takes a deep breath, ¨I want to ask something from you, and you have to promise me that you will do it.¨ Daryl looks at the girl with a confused look but nods. ¨If I get bit, or sick to the point of almost dying. You have to promise me that you will be the one to do it.¨

¨Do what?¨ Daryl asked, confused.

Alexis looked at Daryl with hurtful eyes, and just with that look he understood what she was asking from him. She wanted him to be the one to kill her if something happened. For some reason he didn't want to agree with it, he didn't want to have to do that. He wasn't a very nice person to the rest of the group, but with Alexis it was different. She has shown nothing but kindness to him even after he acted like an asshole. He looked at the ground and sighed, ΅Sure.¨

¨You promise?¨ Alexis asked, staring at Daryl with pleading eyes.

¨Where is this coming from women?¨ Daryl asked harshly.

Alexis looked at the ground with sadness, ¨I just.¨ She paused and grabbed her fingers while shifting uncomfortably. ¨With everything that happened with Amy and Jim, I know no one would have it in the to kill me, but you know that it's too late to be saved when you are bit. That's why I'm asking you to do it.¨ Then she walks away from him.

Daryl stares at the ground for a second until Rick comes up to him and urges him into the building. Deep down he knew that she was right, if she was bit he would be the only one that would be able to do it.

And he hated that she was right.
