Chapter 66: Warning Flares

Alexis

Alexis crossed her arms tightly as she walked down the somewhat crowded area where people were trying to listen to Rick as he explained the plans that were supposed to go down.

The group found a big crowd of walkers in a canyon that could be a threat to Alexandria if they got out.

Though for once luck was on their side, since the horde was covered by big compartment trucks; so for once it seemed they were safe.  She watched closely as Rick tried his best to explain once more what they were going to have to do.

For the past few weeks the group has set up barricades and vehicles, blocking the walkers path from their home so they could lead them in the opposite direction.

"I know this sounds insane... but this is an insane world. We have to come for them before they come for us, it's that simple." He pointed back at the big group of walkers. "This is where it all starts tomorrow. Tobin gets in the truck,  opens the exit, and then we're off. He hopes out, catches up with his team at red staying on the west side of the road. Daryl gets on his bike-"

Rick was cut off when rumbling was heard, "You see that?" Sasha asked, pointing up the hill towards where the other compartment trucks were sitting, cutting off that part of the walkers. The truck started to slid as it seemed to have made the part of the hill crash. Releasing the walkers from that side... they were heading towards Alexandria.

"It's open!" Glenn yelled, running up to Rick.

"We got to do this now!" Rick ordered, kicking off the chaos.

Alexis grabbed her pistol and started shooting the walkers one by one as they pushed their way through the two trucks closest to them. White flares shot through the sky, signaling to the people at home that the plan is now in action. Alexis felt an arm wrap around her waist as she was pulled back.

Alexis faught for a moment until she heard Michonne's voice. "Hey calm down! We have a plan to do.. so let's do it, okay?"

Alexis stared back at the walkers for a moment until she put her gun away and ran to where she was supposed to be. She was in Rick, Michonne, and Morgan's group. Alexis got to know the newer man more as the time went by while repairing, he was the first person Rick met after the apocalypse started. Apparently he had a son name Dwayne, but he must've not made it. The four of them ran through the forest until they arrived at the wall that they barricaded. It was a bunch of metal sheets like the walls back at Alexandria were made in, while a few vehicles were placed to fortify it.

"It'll hold." Rick stated, staring at the wall with hope.

"Well that's good, considering where we're standing." Michonne explained, basically saying if they get though.... they were screwed.

"Michonne." Morgan started, his eyes glued to the wall.

"Yeah?"

"Back when you were in that place... where I lived." he paused for a moment, before he made eye contact with her. "Did you take one of my protein bars?"

Alexis smiled, trying to hide the grin with her hand as she saw Rick's confused expression.

Michonne put on a smug look, clearly guilty of the crime. "No." she lied, her eyes not leaving Morgan as he shook his head.

"See, I could have sworn there was one more peanut butter left." Morgan replied.

Michonne sighed, "See that's how it is, isn't it? You always think there's one more peanut butter left."

Alexis cleared her throat as she stared at the women with a smile, "You thief." She mouthed, so that only Michonne would see. The other women smiled, turning away from Morgan as the sound of approaching walkers made them straighten up. Alexis let out heavy breaths as she bounced on her feet, trying to prepare herself for the horde that was slowly making their way towards them. Michonne noticed the woman's state and grabbed onto her arm, trying to show her that she was here with her.
