Alexis laid on the ground, tears still stained her skin from the event that took place a few hours ago. Ethan laid in her arms as she slowly rubbed her hand against his back, his soft sobs was the only this she could hear, the only thing that filled her mind. Alexis didn't dare to move, to speak, to breath, she felt broken completely. Daryl watched the girl from afar as he helped Dylan and Rick take care of the bodies. The light from the moon shinned down at the group as they all tried to recover from that attack.
Once he was done moving the bodies, Daryl walked over to Alexis and sat down beside her. Neither of them spoke a word, he sat as close as he could trying to show her that he was there. Alexis looked over at Daryl who was already looking at her, she slowly put her head on his shoulder resting it there. Daryl put his head on hers trying to comfort her, he knew deep down that she wasn't breaking down right now so that Ethan knew that they were safe, because if she broke down the small boy would think they're still in danger. That's why Daryl didn't say anything, he didn't need to, he just needed to be there. When Ethan fell asleep Alexis lifted the boy into the car, Michonne and Carl already in there. Michonne nodded at Alexis, hinting that she would watch Ethan for her since she's already watching Carl, who was sound asleep. Alexis felt a little pain in her stomach but she just ignore it as she walked away from the car.
Instead of sitting back down next to Daryl, Alexis walked toward the woods beside them. After walking for a few minutes she sat down, he back against a tree as she stared into the sky. 'How could people be so cruel?' She thought, looking down at the bruises that were staring to form on her arms from getting kicked. Alexis lightly pushed on the bruise and winched from the pain.
{TW: Mentions of miscarriage}
All of the sudden a pain from her stomach made Alexis's eyes went wide. The feeling of of liquid running down her leg made her panic. Alexis reached down and rubbed her finger on the liquid bringing if back to her face, tears started falling when she saw blood on her hand. Blood was slowly starting to cover part of her pants now at this point. Alexis heard footsteps approaching so she hurried to take of her jacket, sitting back down and covering her legs with the jacket.
"There you are." Dylan said as he looked down at her and frowned while shinning a flashlight at her face, "What are you doing without a jacket on?" he asked, approaching from the road.
"Someone send you?" Alexis responded, ignoring his question.
"Nope, just saw you walking in here. Wanted to make sure you're okay, you haven't moved from that one spot and now you're taking walks in the woods." Dylan replied, crouching down in front of her pulling out a bandage from the bag he had. Alexis noticed that he had a baseball bat on his back, he must've gotten it from the attackers.
"I want to be alone." Alexis stated, staring up at the man with daggers.
"No you don't, you're just scared." Dylan said, shocking the women in front of him.
"What?" Alexis asked, giving him a confused look.
"You're scared, we all are. It's nothing to be ashamed of." Dylan explained, grabbing ahold of her arm and slowly examining her injuries.
Alexis winched again, pulling her arm away from the man. "Knock it off!" She yelled.
Dylan grabbed her arm again and blood on her hand but no cut, he then saw a cut that was on her arm, either from her own knife or the attacker. He slowly started to clean the cut, "This is gonna hurt." He said, before pushing a cloth against the cut.
Alexis groaned in pain, "Ow, will you just leave it."
"Nope." Dylan replied, wrapping her hand.
The sounds of a branch snapping made both Alexis and Dylan frantically look in the direction of the sound, Alexis's hand on the handle of her knife while Dylan grabbed his bat from the ground positing it so he's ready to swing while he stood in front of the Alexis. It was quiet for a few seconds until the sounds of bushes rustling made Alexis stand he jacket falling off he lap, watching the bush like a hawk. Both of them held their breath when a figure stepped out of the bushes but they both sighed in relief when they noticed it was just a baby rabbit, the small noticed them and quickly started running away.
Dylan sighed turning to look at her, the light from his flashlight shinned on her while she bent down to pick up her jacket, that's when he saw the blood. "You're bleeding Alexis, on your..." He paused when Alexis looked at him with a saddened expression, and with that look he knew, "Alexis." He muttered, going to hug her but she pushed him away.
"No just, please." Alexis said, rubbing away the tears as she sat back down. "Please just don't."
Dylan looked at her with a sad expression, "Do you want me to get you new clothes?"
Alexis looked down at her state and slowly nodded. Dylan starting running back to the road leaving the women there. Alexis's put her head in her hands as she started to sob, there's no way that she lost the baby, she couldn't lose the baby, she didn't want to lose this baby. Alexis kept crying as she hoped that it wasn't what she thought it was but after a few minutes it was confirmed by many signs that it was a miscarriage, she was numb at this point.
Dylan returned with new clothes, slowly handing them to her. Alexis grabbed the clothes and stood behind a tree as she changed into new clothes. When she was done, she slowly started digging a hole in the ground making a grave. Alexis cried as she placed her clothes in the hole and covered it with dirt, she grabbed a few flowers and placed it onto the grave, staring down at the dirt. Dylan walked over and placed his coat over her, "So, the baby-" Dylan stopped when he saw Alexis slowly nodding.
The sound of something coming through the bush made them both jump up but, relaxed when they saw it was Daryl.
"Oh. Sorry." Daryl said, noticing that they both were in a fighting stance. He raised his hands, "I surrender."
"Gosh man, you scared the hell out of me." Dylan said, his eyes went wide for a second when he realized the situation.
Alexis sighed and sat back down by the tree. "Will you two please just leave me alone, I'm fine."
Dylan looked at Daryl with a symbathetic look as he nodded his head toward the grave. Daryl looked over confused but when he realized what was happening his heart dropped. Daryl hinted too Dylan to leave them alone, so that's what Dylan did, he left the two there to talk about the situation.
Alexis looked up at Daryl with a frown, "I'm serious, I'm fine."
Daryl said nothing as he grabbed ahold of her, putting her face against his chest as the women slowly started to break.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Alexis cried out.
Daryl just shushed her, "It's okay, it's not your fault." Tears started to slowly form in his eyes, "It's okay."
Alexis and Daryl sat there for awhile, both of them going through this pain in a different way. Daryl was holding her tight, when Joe's men were beating him up and he heard Ethan scream about the baby he didn't know how to feel, but at this moment right now, he felt loss.
They both felt loss.
A/N: This is a shorter chapter and a very sad one, I'm sorry if I did not explain the situation better, I felt it was a big topic so I didn't want to go into details do too readers who may have gone through that. If you have I am so sorry, please read the rest of the chapters with caution there may be more parts talking about that topic.
