Lexa (flashback to before she met Alexis) TW: This chapter will have detailed descriptions of some deaths and signs of SA. It will be pretty sad and dark so if you want to skip that part i will put a warning before hand. -Halo

The grip she had on the bow was tight as she stared at her target. A slow breath was taken as she stared at where the arrow was going to fly. Just as she was about to release it a high pitched chuckle sounded in the air, scaring the deer away. Lexa tried to shoot it before it got away but the arrow slammed into a tree, just an inch away from the deer.

She let out an irritated groan as she turned around, "Ollie!" she exclaimed, walking up to him and picking the toddler up. "You can't do that, where is mom and dad?"

Her eyes scanned the forest, both of them landing on her parents who just stood there with apologetic looks. "I'm sorry hunny, he slipped away." her mom explained, grabbing the child from Lexa's grasp.

Lexa frowned, "You can't let this happen again, especially with the dead walking around." she replied, walking up to where her arrow landed.

"Lex, don't talk to us like that. It was a mistake, you don't think we know the dangers of the undead after we lost your sister?" Her father asked, as he crossed his arms.

"Well clearly not, since you let Ollie get away from the group." she paused and turned to her parents. "Now excuse me but i have a deer to hunt." she stated, walking down the path.

The day was almost over so she walked quickly yet quietly through the deep forest. Her eyes were scanning the area, trying to find where the deer went. Lexa had about ten people to feed so she needed to find that deer again, especially before a walker finds it first. She climbed up a hill and followed what looked like a deer footprint. She was very careful not to make any sudden sounds that would scare any creature away. A twig snapping in the distance made her crouch down to the ground, her bow pointing to where the noise was at. The deer from earlier was staring off into the distance, not noticing the woman.

Lexa pulled her arrow back and repeated her steps from earlier, her breath was calm as she aimed it right at the neck. She was about to release an arrow but her eyes noticed a silhouette entering her vision. A baby deer walked up to its mother and rubbed against her, it was happy to see her. Lexa lowered her bow with a frown as she stared at the tiny little family in front of her. With a sigh she put her arrow back into her holster. The mother deer made eye contact with Lexa and her eyes looked like they were pleading Lexa to leave them alone.

The woman stood and turned away from the deers before a painful groan came from that direction. She quickly turned to see the baby deer was now on the ground with one of the undead creatures bitting onto its neck. Without hesitation Lexa pulled her arrow and made it go flying through the air, the arrow landing right into the creatures head. She ran over to where the mother deer was now making sad noises as she tried to move her child with her head. The baby deer struggled to breath as it made painful groans.

Lexa pulled out her knife and slowly walked up to the baby, but the mother got between Lexa and her baby. The deer stared for awhile before laying next to her child, not moving from that spot. Lexa sat with the mother and watched the baby take its last breath before it didn't move or groan anymore. The mother deer didn't move once as it slowly looked over towards Lexa, who was still just sitting there. Lexa watched the mother close her eyes and she didn't know if she could kill the mother or not, but she reached for her knife once more and reunited the two.

It was now night as the woman dragged the deer back to her camp, her feet slowly dragged as she wiped the tears off her face. Though once she got back to her camp an orange glow was the only thing she could see as fire took over her base. Lexa dropped the deer and ran into her camp without hesitation, as the dark sky made the fire grow much brighter as she entered.
