Chapter 75: Chasing After Jesus

Alexis slowly woke to the sun shinning in through the window, the bright light made her groan a bit as she sat up in her bed. She looked around for Daryl but to no surprise he was already up and out there before she even was awake. That was a pretty normal schedule for the two, since the man liked to wake up early while Alexis liked to stay up late and sleep in most the time.

The woman was mostly on the night watch shift due to her sudden difficulty to sleep, her night terrors seemed to come back. It's been awhile since she had them and she hated waking Daryl up from it so she volunteered to take the shift. Some nights she would wake him up, but she would say she was fine and for him to go back to bed.... though she knows he doesn't believe her half the time.

Alexis got up from her bed with a sigh, before slowly traveling to the bathroom to take a shower. She quickly washed herself off and made herself look decent before walking out of her bedroom door. Alexis was quick to come to a stop when Ethan ran past the door with a laugh, Lexa not too far behind him. "Sorry!" she exclaimed, before chasing the boy down the hall.

Alexis just smiled while shaking her head, before walking down the stairs and into the kitchen where Carol was already making some food. The older woman smiled as she hurried to place a plate next to Alexis, "Eat up, gotta get some strength for your run today."

"Thanks Carol." Alexis stated, eating the food as Ethan and Lexa came down to join her. "Morning you two."

"Morning!" Ethan stated, grabbing a piece of toast and running back up the stairs.

"Where are you going?" Alexis asked, making the boy stop.

Ethan froze slowly turning with a grin, "I was going to wake up Carl."

"With a piece of toast?" Lexa added, staring with a confused look.

Ethan smiled, before walking up the stairs. It was quiet for a few moments before there was a thud from upstairs and the sound of laughter. Alexis and Lexa looked at each other with an amused looked before Ethan and Carl come down the stairs.

"Hey Carl." Alexis stated, looking at the tired looking boy. The boy now wearing a bandage over his eye.

"Hi Alexis, you're going on the run with Dad and Daryl today right?" Carl asked, grabbing some food.

Alexis finished her food quickly due to them having to eat less, their food wasn't the best at the moment. "Yeah, you wanna tag along?"

"I'm okay, thanks." He stated, before heading back upstairs.

"Can i come?" Ethan asked, looking up with a pleading look.

Alexis looked hesitant for a moment before she sighed, "I can ask Rick."

After a few minutes the leader came down with Judith in hand. "You ready?" he asked, the woman.

"Yeah, hey can i talk to you?" She asked, pulling him aside.

"What's up?" Rick asked.

Alexis looked over at Ethan, before crossing her arms. "Ethan wants to come with, and before you say anything i promise i will watch him the entire time."

Rick looks over at the excited boy, before letting out a sigh and nodding his head. The boy noticed the interaction and got even more excited, causing him to run up the stairs to gather his stuff.

"Thank you." Alexis muttered, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Of course, be ready in ten." Rick stated, walking up to Carol and handing off Judith.

Alexis nodded, before turning to the boy who was running up to her with a bag now on his back and a knife in hand. "Listen to me very carefully." she stated, getting down onto one knee so that she was level with him. "You listen to me, and if i tell you to do something you do it. Understand?"
