Chapter 67: We Just Wanted Some Casserole

Lexa (Alexandria - taking place at the same time as last chapter started)

Lexa stared out the window of their house as the sounds of Ethan humming filled the room. She was supposed to be helping Maggie and Deanna with planting but Maggie told her to stay at the house so that the woman could talk to the grieving widow.

Ethan heard pots and pans clashing and that made him get an excited look on his face, since that could only mean that Carol was cooking something to eat. He looked up at Lexa, "Can we go see what Carols cooking?"

Lexa looked away from the window with a smile, "Yeah, of course." she replied, standing up from her spot and picking up the boys drawings as he ran out of the door. Lexa was quick to follow him down the stairs as they both smiled at Carol who was turning her timer on.

"What are you making today Carol?" Ethan asked, his hands on their island as his head peaks to try and see what it was.

"Just a casserole, it's gonna be done in a bit." Carol explained, rustling Ethan's hair before she looked out the window. Lexa followed her gaze and noticed that the older lady's eyes were on another woman who was smoking a cigarette across the street.

Carol sighed, shaking her head before she saw a man run up to the woman and slice her belly open. Lexa was frozen as she watched the lady fall to the ground in pain, the poor woman was begging the man to stop. Yet the man ended her life with one finally chop to her head.

Ethan's eyes went wide, as he too was staring out the window. His body slowly started to move backwards, trying to separate himself from the window. Lexa turned to Carol with a shocked expression as the sound of more screams crowded the area.

Lexa turned and grabbed Ethan's hand, pulling him to the stairs where Carl was already standing. He held on tight to a machine gun, "I saw them from upstairs, they're coming in from all over."

"You have to stay here and keep Judith safe." Carol replied, a pistol in hand as she ran out the front door.

Lexa looked at the door and back at Carl, "Okay, listen to me closely. I have to go and see if everyone else knows the situation so you have to watch him."

"I can come with." Ethan spoke up.

"No! You stay here, I will be right back." Lexa replied, locking the door and closing it behind her as she grabbed her baseball bat on the way out. She was quick to run to the house beside them where the rest of their group was. Lexa ran in through the back door and looked around to try and find anyone, but no one was in sight.

That was until she heard a loud thud coming from upstairs, she held on tight to her bat as she slowly walked up the stairs to where the sound was coming from. She stood outside of the door that was slightly cracked open, the noise was coming from in there. Lexa took a deep breath and quickly kicked the door open, but once she saw what was going on she covered her eyes. "Oh my god.!" she exclaimed, turning away from Samantha and Nathan who laid on their bed.

"What the hell Lexa?" Samantha asked, covering the two of them while staring up with shock.

"Why are you two doing that when we're literally getting attacked by people?!" Lexa replied, glaring at them once they were finally covered.

"Wait what?" Nathan asked, until they all heard the sounds of more screaming coming from outside. "Holy shit."

"Get dressed and meet me at our house, I'll go make sure no one is outside." Lexa ordered, closing the door as she walked out. Lexa let out a heavy breath as she walked back down the stairs, trying to find anyone that could help her.

Once she walked outside, she slowly walked towards the house but she was stopped when she was thrown to the ground roughly.  Lexa looked up with panic when she saw a man staring directly at her, he was looking at her like she was her next meal. He was a lot bigger than her, and his eyes made him look like he was actually insane.
