The rays of the sun rising shined bright in the room, causing Alexis to groan in her half-sleeping form. The woman slowly opened her eyes, trying to figure out where she was. Her hand ached, causing her to look down and see the blood covered bandages covering her hand.
That caused the memories to come back.
Alexis looked to her right to see Dr. Harlan Carson going through some supplies. The doctor seemed so focused that he didn't even notice the woman wake up.
"Harlan." She spoke softly.
The man turned around. "Ah, you're awake." He put the clipboard down, walking over and looking at her carefully. "How are you feeling?"
"A little woozy."
He smiled a bit. "Yes you might be like that for a bit. You seemed to have smacked the back of your head hard. Most likely didn't feel it due to adrenaline."
Alexis reached back, winching when she felt the scab forming on her head. "Concussion?"
"Most likely."
"Okay.... Harlan there's something i need done. Something that has to say between us."
Harlan raised a brow curiously. "Alright?"
Alexis let out a soft breath. "I'm pregnant."
The doctor said nothing, turning to his machine and scooting it over to her. "How long?"
"I'm not sure." Alexis stated, not daring to look at the screen. She didn't know why she was so nervous, but her eyes were avoiding that screen. The cool feeling of the gel made her take in a quick breath. Alexis slowly listened as a heartbeat slowly started to fill the small trailer, causing her head to shoot to the screen.
"Well there they are... I would say you're about almost two months."
Alexis watched him move the screen to show the little baby. "Two?! How have I just noticed?"
"Symptoms are always different. Some woman can go the whole nine months without noticing. And now when its harder to track the days I don't blame you for not noticing." Harlan said, printing out the photo and then wiping the gel off of her stomach. He walked over to a shelf, grabbed a pill bottle and carefully walked back over to her. "You know what to do with these."
"You just have these stalked up?" Alexis tried to joke through her nervous voice.
Harlan just smiled. "You never know when someone wants to start a family. Lucky for you and Maggie I suppose."
That sentence made Alexis snap into realization. "Crap, her and Sasha are here."
The man nodded. "Along with your friend Nathanial."
"Nathan got me here." Alexis breathed out, standing up from the table and grabbing the pills and photo.
"They're all waiting for you in the main house. Gregory has returned and he's not too thrilled that you are all here. But Alexis I need to tell you this, since someone mentioned it to me before." He paused for a moment grabbing another bottle. "Take this."
"What is this for?" Alexis asked looking at the Anxiety medication.
Harlan cleared his throat. "Well I was told you couldn't have kids... but it may just be that your uterus has a harder time holding a child. Stress has an effect on your body, and it is a cause of miscarriages. This should help you."
Alexis nodded. "Thank you." She said, shoving the items into her bag. The woman grabbed the photo from the stand, examining it with a smile before shoving it with the rest of her items. "I'll hopefully see you again soon Harlan."
