Chapter 16 - Yule Ball

It's the night of the Yule Ball and Y/N and the boys decided they would get ready and pick up their dates together. Ron is getting dressed in front of a mirror. He looks panicked and uncomfortable in his ridiculous dress robes.

"Bloody hell," he says as he frowns in the mirror. Suddenly Jorden enters the room wearing a navy blue suit with a black robe and bowtie. "What are those?!" he says panicking

Taken aback by Ron's actions Jorden looks at his outfit "my dress robes"

"Well they're alright. No lace, no dodgy little collar." Ron says as he fiddles with it the Harry enters wearing a traditional black and white dress robe with a white bowtie

"Well I expect yours are more traditional" Harry suggest and Ron scoffs

"Traditional? They're ancient! I look like my great aunt Tessie." Ron says then sniffs his clothes "I smell like my great aunt Tessie."

"Alright are you boys ready to go," Y/N says as she enters the room

"Damn Y/N, Hermione won't be able to take her eyes off you," Jorden says

Y/N wore an all-black dress robe, slightly more fitted than Harry's with a deep burgundy collared shirt paired with a black skinny tie.

"Nope I don't want to go anymore," Ron says "you three all look great and I look like someone's nan"

"My nan would even wear that Ron," Jorden says

Ron's face goes white "murder me Harry," he says as Harry stares at his best friend with sympathy

"Shut up Jord's" Y/N says "Ron you look fine, I bet a lot of other people will wear a more traditional style"

"Yeah don't beat yourself up mate," Harry says and Ron huffs but they all go down to the dance hall

They walk to the dance hall where a bunch of students dressed in smart robes occupy the entranceway. Y/N, Jorden, Harry and Ron are walking down the stairs and wait just outside the hall. Ron is fidgeting with his outfit.

"Leave it alone" Harry scolds and Ron stops they all wait patiently for their dates

"Poor kid, bet she's alone in her room crying her eyes out," Ron says

"Who," Jorden asks

"Florence of course. Come on, why'd you think she wouldn't tell us who she's coming with?" Ron says

"Because we'd take the mickey out of her if she did." Y/N says "and she's got a date"

"Come on Y/N nobody asked her. I would have taken her myself if she weren't so bleeding proud." Ron says and Y/N just rolls her eyes

"Well my date is here, I'll meet you guys inside," Jorden says as he greets Hannah Abbott another Hufflepuff student in their year. The two decided to go as friends and they made their way into the dance hall.

Harry stares off at Cedric, whose date is none other than Cho. Y/N places a comforting hand on harry's shoulder "I'm sorry mate"

Harry sighs "It's fine," Harry says and the Patil twins make their way over to the trio.

"Hello boys and Y/N. Don't you look-" Pavarti says as she stares at Ron struggling to find the words "dashing"

"We'll meet you inside," Harry says and Ron and the Patil twins follow Harry into the dance hall.

When Y/N turns her attention back to the stairs, she spots Hermione and Florence in the most beautiful ball dresses. Florence wears a light blue ball gown with her hair curled slightly. Flo waves to Y/N and she smiles and waves back but her gaze quickly turns to Hermione.
