T H I R T Y - S I X (part one)

"I- What- How?" Areum stayed still with shock. She wasn't sure what surprised her more. Namjoon knowing about her and Jungkook fucking around or the fact he was bringing it up now. And for what reason?

"And don't try to deny it because I've known for a while now. I just wasn't a hundred percent certain until last week"

"Okay," Areum said while letting out a deep breath. "I won't deny it, but in all honesty, it's not a big deal. It's not like we're dating or anything. We're just?" pausing for a moment to think of the right words. "Hanging out and having fun..."  She crossed her arms to seem casual when in fact, inside she was feeling anything but.

"If it's not a big deal then why are you two keeping it a secret?"

Her finger automatically reached up to rub her temples. Why was it a secret? wasn't it obvious?!

"Are you seriously asking me that?"

Areum didn't understand how Namjoon couldn't comprehend something so simple! Did he forget Jungkook was Taehyung's brother? And she somehow knew this would happen! No one would care if she was sleeping around with someone else, but because it's Jungkook... Everyone would judge and or ask millions of questions.

This is why they kept it secret.

"Look" He stood up and approached closer in what seemed to be a gentler, non-threatening way as he continued in a hushed whisper. "I know realistically it is none of my or anyone else's business what or who you're doing. But as your friend, I think I've earned the right to let you know when you're doing something wrong. Even if you don't think it is"

Wrong? The harsh, clipped laugh Areum let out was immediate. Sure, sleeping with your ex's brother isn't an ideal situation to be in. But outside of Jungkook being Taehyung's brother, they are adults! And if two single and consenting adults want to have occasional sex? Then how is that in any way considered wrong?!

"You're right. It is none of your business" Areum scoffed and turned towards her side of the room to face away from Namjoon's judgment. She wished Ji would hurry back up to break the now obvious tension. But... But what if Namjoon told Ji and now, they both were going to gang up on her when she returned... Suddenly the room felt suffocatingly small.

"I know you Areum and you are not this type of person" Namjoon tried to reason but Areum's ears were now ringing as her blood began to boil as Namjoon's next words came out. "Is this some type of way at getting back at"

"Do not even finish that sentence!" She interrupted him, spinning around to stare up at Namjoon in disbelief. How could he even think that of her! His eyes even widen in surprise at her outburst.

"Then tell me why?!" He insisted.

"Why, what?!" Her hands came up to run through her hair to try to calm her nerves, ignoring the few tangles her fingers got caught in. "Why Jungkook?! It doesn't matter why him, because it has nothing to do with Taehyung or about getting back at him or anyone"

She honestly didn't care anymore. They could all judge her if they wanted to but at the end of the day, she didn't believe she was hurting anyone by being with Jungkook.
