The summer was coming to an end but unfortunately it was still scorching hot outside, Areum was sitting in her car drinking a strawberry banana smoothie with the A.C blasting in her face as she waited in the pick-up line at the airport.
Ji. Her best friend and roommate was finally coming back from her summer trip to New York today and Areum had offered to pick her up so she wouldn't have to wait for a taxi or uber.
She also needed an excuse to get out of bed and leave her room besides just going to the bathroom to shower and relief herself for the first time this summer.
Her flight had arrived a few minutes ago and should be on her way to the car any minute now, as she scanned through the people exiting the doors from her front windshield, she spotted a familiar face in the crowd.
She made sure her car was in park and quickly jumped out to attacked her friend with a huge hug.
"Oh my god! I've missed you so much!" Ji exclaimed as she immediately returned the embrace.
Of course they had kept up during the summer, FaceTime, phone calls and texts but it still wasn't the same being thousand of miles away from each other.
A quick shout from a security guard telling them they must move their car broke the two apart, so they quickly hauled Ji's suitcases in the backseat and took off back home to campus.
During the drive back, Ji had shared her experience and stories in the big apple with her friend. All the food she tried, the clubs she partied in and of course all the guys she had met, Ji had always been more of a free spirit so Areum wasn't too surprised by how she spent her time in New York.
"And you? How was your summer with Taehyung. Do anything fun? Do it anywhere fun" Ji joked but the sound of his name had sliced through Areum like a knife.
That's when she remembered she hadn't yet told her best friend about how he dumped her.
"Whoa, what's wrong! why are you crying?" Areum hadn't even realized a few tears escaped, that must have been the reason of her blurry vision a few seconds ago.
"It's nothing" She quickly wiped away the tears on her cheeks and continued to drive like nothing was wrong but Ji wasn't having it.
"Obviously it's not just nothing" Ji stated while looking over at her friend.
Now actually taking a good look at Areum, she could definitely tell something was wrong, she was more pale like she hadn't been in the sun in a while and she also looked like she lost some weight but not in a healthy way.
