Natalie's POV

"Don't be mad." Alex says as she pushes me away from the front door.

"Why would I be mad?" I chuckle as I walk towards the door. "Why won't you let me go to the door babe?"

"Promise you won't be mad, I didn't do this okay." Alex says as she pushes me back.

"It wasn't me either." Taylor shouts from outside the door.

"What the hell is going on?" I open the door and my eyes widen. "You."

"Hi sweetheart."

"It was me." Karamo says. "I know. I know what you're going to say but hear him out."

"I've had so much anger, a grudge held against you for years just for you to show up at my house? No." I say shaking my head. "Absolutely not."

"Natalia, I've always been proud of you. Trust me when I tell you that I'm so deeply sorry I never supported you and your passion, either of your passions."

"Wrong. I'm leaving. I have things to do." I grab my phone and wallet, putting my sunglasses and baseball cap on as I head for the door.

"Hear him out bubs." Taylor says.

"No."

"You're so stubborn. Now sit down and listen to the man."

"Fine." I plop myself down as I sit next to Alex, grabbing her hand as I looked at the man in front of me, one who I once used to call dad. "Speak."

"I heard you were getting married, and I wanted to see you before then. I'm happy to hear you've found the one. She seems wonderful."

"She is Jason." I say. "Well that's all the time I have for today."

"Babe."

I sigh as I grab the envelope from the drawer.

"I was going to drop this by the post office. You're invited to the wedding." I say as I walk towards the front door. "Part of me wants you to be there. If you don't go that's fine too, you did always take extra shifts the moment my mom died."

"I was a mess."

"So was I. I was seven when she passed away, you don't think I remember my last moments with her? You went to work right after the funeral, uncle Joey was there for me more than you ever were. Did you know I'd stay with him when you took up extra shifts? Someone had to make me food."

"I'm sorry."

"Just, try and make it."

I walk outside and I look at the sky.

"I'm so tired."

My phone rings which startled me, grabbing my phone from my pocket I furrow my eyebrows as I don't recognize the number.

"Hello?"

"Is this Natalia?"

"This is her." I say. "Who is this?"

"Natalia do you not have my number saved?" The woman on the other side says.

I close my eyes as I try to remember who it is. The voice, it sounds so familiar.

"Mija come on."

"Salma!" I shout.

"You should really put the name on your contacts honey, or else how will you know." Salma says and I laugh.

"I will, I will Salma. I just completely forgot." I say with a chuckle.

"I wanted to call you to see if we're still getting lunch?"
