In the morning, I get orders to help Alan out with training. I take him to stations to build him up for fighting. Henry meets us at the weight station and tells me some nerve racking news.
"Muttford is advancing quickly. I over heard the generals say that we could be fighting soon."
"Keep an eye on him." I was pissed the generals hadn't told me this yet.
I march over to General Hugh and interrogate him to see if the rumors are true. It turns out everything Henry said is true.
"How have I not heard about this yet?"
"Scarlett, we were about to."
"I'd watch my tone if I was you, Captain." General Logan comes out.
"Captain?" I was only a lieutenant unless I got promoted.
"Yes, you are a captain now." He plainly states.
"I got promoted!" I gasp.
General Hugh cackles at my excitement.
"Congratulations." he says as he gets back to work.
I get back to my post and see Henry checking Alan out. I nudge him on the arm as he redirects his attention. Alan finishes his work out and we head on to the next station until we are directed other wise.
"Scarlett, Alan, Henry." General Hugh calls us over.
"Henry and Alan are going to do a simulation. Scarlett is going to over see it in with me."
We go down to the simulation room. Henry and Alan grab some weapons as I go into the viewing room with General Hugh. Oliver is in there with General Logan.
"Where should our boys go off to?" General Hugh ask the group.
"The mountains." I suggest. Everybody agrees as Henry and Alan begin to get knocked out.
As they begin to regain consciousness we set up three soldiers.
"Hopefully Henry will try to take them out with two arrows like I showed him in our simulation." I say when making three figures appear in front of them.
Henry shoots with two arrows to take them both down while Alan uses his powerful arm to throw his trident.
"They need to have experience for if they charge at them." Oliver states as he creates two more charging at the two boys.
Alan first jabs the one coming at Henry and then stabs the other one. Henry takes out his belt knife and thrust it into the neck of the one still living.
"This is really good work for a mayors son." I say astonished.
Mayors sons usually didn't fight that well because they were paid into the position of an officer. Except Alan came in as a private by his wishes.
Finally we change the scene back right before the dinner. Alan gets papers on how well he did. They were actually quite well. With his scores he ends up 7th in the class.
"Alan, how are you so good?" I ask at dinner.
"My father pressured me into being able to fight and going into the army." He sits down beside Henry at the table.
"Well you came 7th in class." I congratulate him as he devours his food.
Before I head to the barracks I take a quick shower. The showers are separated by stalls and curtains. The luxury of the showers in the facility is that it's actually warm water. All my life I've taken cold shower because my family could never afford that kind of extra comfort.
I hurried myself not to stay long it the hot water. It was hard to resist the temptation when it runs down through my hair on to my back.
My shower was not long at all. It took ten minutes to take it, get dress, and brush my hair. Oliver stepped before I left and quickly gave me one of his warm kisses.
I try to act normal when I walk out but Henry can see right through me.
