Training was getting old as I did it everyday. The excitement of battle was slipping out of the hearts of some but growing in others. Word from General Hugh sparks the excitement back into everybody.
"Ballton is advancing into southern colonies." General Hugh alerts us.
We were the most southern colony. Ballton would have to go through Furrow to get to us. Furrow was 2nd lowest in military superiority. Summerton was last, Muttford was first, Ballton was second, and Foxhole was 3rd.
"How am I going to bring back 25 boys when we are going against Ballton?" I stress to General Hugh.
"You can do it. Anyways, Furrow might slow them down depending on if they decide to side with them or not." He says.
"Muttford has already taken over Foxhole and they've allied with Ballton. They aren't going to stop until they have taken over Furrow. There is no use of allieing with them since they are so weak."
"Just remember you are all going to be placed with one fighter. You can either kill them or they kill you. After you've finished killing your man you can go help kill the others. So with that said, they can be mixing their soldiers."
"Ballton is going to turn on Muttford so they wouldn't take in their soldiers because they would find out their plans." I state my theory as General Hugh gets hit with a wave of realization.
"You're a genius." He says before he runs back to the general headquarters.
Oliver comes to me before we head to the target room.
"We are fighting Ballton. I'm almost positive of it." I say as we walk over.
"Furrow doesn't stand a chance." He grabs his gear.
"Unless they have some fighters like this group, Ballton is going to be battling us very soon." I walk into the target room with Oliver by my side.
We start the two man practice until we finish hitting every target.
"Do you think we'll make it?" I feared the response he was going to give. He turns me in to look into his eyes.
"We are going to win this war." He lets the words linger on his lips and then pulls me in to taste them. Our lips dance around on each other's as we begin to hear commotion out side.
We run out and see Henry and ask him what's going on.
"Muttford has prisons that takes people that don't follow the standards and speak their thoughts. That's why we were in war. We are actually in war for a reason!" He gets happy.
"What do you mean people that don't follow standards?" Oliver's level of confusion was the same level as mine.
"Like women who don't fit into women stereo types or men who don't fit into men stereo types. People who fight against it are put into camps along with them."
"So basically people who don't fit into their certain stereotypes."
"Scarlett, report to the generals headquarters." General Logan alerts me. I run down and rush into the headquarters to talk to General Hugh.
"You can't be captured. They will torture you for fighting. Muttford won't go easy on you. This is nothing like we thought." He has his head in his hands, an open flask sits beside him as his eyes drain tears.
"We've just brought a girl into something she shouldn't be apart of." He cries.
"Sir, this war would have affected me even if I wasn't in the army. I would have joined sooner or later." I reason. He just dismisses me back to what I was doing not daring to look at me.
Suddenly an alarm goes off. General Logan runs out to us with blood shot eyes and begins to tell what's happening.
"The battles have started." He says as we begin to put on our fighting uniforms.
