𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓 54: 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑵𝒆𝒘𝒔

"Riki, they're awake." Kuya Ethan said then he entered the ward. Sumunod kami ni Sun.

"Mom, Dad, Ate." I smiled as I ran to them and hugged them one by one.

"Don't cry. We're fine now." Mom said while she smiled.

"Buhay pa kami." Dad laughed.

"Dad, not a good joke." I glared at him.

"At least we survived." Ate said while kuya Ethan hugged her tight.

"Sun, are you alright?" Mom said worriedly.

"I'm fine tita." Sun smiled.

"Hey. You're pale." I went to him and the next thing I knew he fainted while he's in my arms.

"Kuya! Call a doctor please!" I screamed.

Kuya ran quickly to call the doctor. What the f*ck is happening?! I immediately called Sun's parents to inform them.

Kanina pa ako nakatayo habang hinihintay ang doctor. Sun's parents sat down on the benches. They were silent the whole time.

Pagkalabas ng doctor, I immediately asked about Sun's condition.

"He's not fine."

Those words were like a lightning that just struck me out of nowhere.

Napaluhod ako kaya inalo ako ng parents ni Sun.

"Malala na ang sakit ng pasyente. His life is getting shorter." The doctor sighed.

"How long?" Sun's father asked. His voice broke.

"Around 7 to 10 months depending on the circumstances. Excuse me, I still have other patients waiting for me. He's conscious now. You can now enter the room." The doctor left.

Nagkatinginan kami ng parents ni Sun.

"I'm sorry." I said to them but they just hugged me.

"I think kasalanan ko." Sabi ko sa kanila.

"No, it's not. Hindi mo kasalanan Riki. Tanggapin na lang natin ang katotohanan at wag na magsisihan. Let's just cherish the time left we have for my son." His mother wiped my tears.

"Aia is right. Let's just enjoy my son's remaining months." His dad teared up.

I entered the room first.

Sun was silent but when he saw me, his face lit.

"Hi. Wait, did you cry? Why?" Sun frowned.

I knew the doctor already told him about his condition but here he is, still smiling even in pain.

"Wala. Napuwing lang." I smiled.

"Sure ka? I know the doctor told you something. Haist. Wag kang mag-alala." He held my hand tight.

"Paano ako di mag-alala?" My voice broke.

"Alam ko naman na darating ang araw na ito. Handa na ako Riki. Wag kang mag-alala. Magiging maayos din ang lahat." He smiled.

"How can you still manage to smile when you know you're leaving us?" I cried.

"Sshhh." He wiped my tears.

"Lahat tayo mawawala sa mundong ito. Mauuna lang ako sa inyo. Pero magkikita pa rin tayo doon." He kissed my forehead.

"Hindi ko kaya Sun. Hindi ko kaya mawala ka sa akin eh." I hugged him tight.

"Kayanin mo Riki. Kayanin mo for me. Finish your studies for me. Do all the things I can't for me. Love again for me."

His last sentence made me walked out. I went to the rooftop and screamed.

"Putangina!" My tears won't stop falling.

"Bakit siya? Bakit Niyo po siya kailangan kunin sa akin? Bakit?" Napaluhod ako.

"Bakit si Sun pa?!"

The rain came and it seemed to comfort me from the pain I was suffering.
