Chapter Ten: Aftermath

Campbell's POV

I walk out into the hallway for a drink while the principal talks to Nate and Maddy's family discus what to do, my head is spinning and my heart is beating so fast that I can't think

I drink the water from the fountain as if I had never drank water before, I turn the fountain off and sigh as I lean back up and look down the hallway to see my father coming in

He looks at me with this death glare that I've never seen before and walk into the office where Maddie and her mom are arguing, Maddie looks to me and I look at her with uncertainty and sadness

I sit down next to my father as I watch Maddie and her mother argues about pressing charges till Maddie starts to cry, I instantly go and hug her from behind and she grabs my arm and cry's into my stomach

"Mr.Harin I would like to ask you a few questions outside please" One of the officers says, my father nods and gets up before walking out with the officers

I listen out for het they are saying and to see what he's going to do, I feel Maddie's squeeze my hand causing me to look at her and she looks at me with so much emotion and it makes me wish I could kiss her and make her feels so much better

I see my father come back into the office and sit next to me, I turn to look at him and see he's already looking at me with a hidden fire in his eyes which tells me that this situation is going to get worse

We hear a door close causing Maddie and i to turn around we see Nate on the other side of the glass, I glare at him as he looks between Maddie and I but soon my eye turn to Cal who's staring a hole into my father and I heads

Maddie and I turn away as he walks off with the officers and I sink in my seat and this doesn't go unnoticed by my father who leans into my ear

"You will not say a word to the police about what happened at the carnival, whatever story that boy comes up with...you go with it, understood?" My father says causing me to slowly turn to him

"Understood" I say angrily causing him to lean back and face forward

I sit in the police interrogation room alone as the cops take pictures of my face from different angles and my hands which are busted up too, I hear Maddie crying in the other room causing me to dip my head

"Sweetheart she's going to be ok, we will find out what happened to your friend and you" The female officers says as she puts her hand on mine, I slowly turn to her with a cold expression

"Maybe you guys will......I just want her safe" I say causing the lady to be taken off guard at my tone

"You will get justice too sweetheart" She says and I turn away from her as she dresses my wounds

"No...I won't" I say quietly

Nate's POV

I sit in the interrogation room with my dad as the cops talk to me about the carnival, I have to find a way to get out of this soon because now they are claiming that I may have did something to Campbell as well

"So you grabbed her" the detective says

"I grabbed her by the arm to drag her away, I didn't choke her, I asked her why she was acting that way like, I asked her what she was doing" I say

The detective look at me as I try and get my story together

"I don't want to get her in trouble, but she'd taken a lot of drugs" I say

"What drugs" the detective says

"I don't want to get her in trouble" I say silently

"She's not gonna get in trouble" He says

"Molly" I say

I respond to more of his questions and try and decide when I'm going to include Campbell

"And after that conversation, was that the last time you spoke to Miss Perez that evening" The detective says

"Yeah" I say nodding, I look to my dad who seems to be listening very intently as I talk which is confusing but so was him coming home with a fat lip and a cut on his cheek

"Her and I don't have the healthiest relationship, I know that...my dads always telling me she's a distraction and he's right...I love her, you know I really love her, no matter...no matter how crazy she acts, no matter what she does, I love her" I say, suddenly I get an idea in my head that could work out perfectly

"It's kinda embarrassing to admit but um....on the times when we've broken up, I know for a fact that she's been with other guys, I don't know, I mean it's possible that night......aah it doesn't matter" I say as I put my head down

"What we're you gonna say" The detective says, I raise my ex d ack up but I keep looking at my hands, not wanting to meet their eyes

"It doesn't matter" I repeat

"I love Maddy, I'd never do anything to hurt her" I say

Rue's Narration

The fallout from Nate's assault was swift and the cover up that Andrew was planning was going to get him off the chopping block especially since his investors were ready to pull out as the world had gone around saying he abused his daughter

Andrew met with Cal to tell him that this situation won't come back to them and there wouldn't be any problems as long as everyone cooperated and well he was told by the police to stay away from his daughter until the investigation was over

"My daughter stays quiet, you stay quiet, we all win got it" Andrew says to Cal over the phone who just nods and walks away from what was once his home, Cal looks up once more to see Campbell watching him leave

In school later on

"Your team wants to support you in this rough time Campbell, we support you" The baseball coach says as he pulls Campbell close and the team come in for a group hug

Campbell was there for Maddie through the days of abuse videos and was at her house countless times to talk to her about their situations and what to do but all of this support was only making Campbell fall harder for Maddie

And she knew this

And she didn't want to stop

A/n so I'm back but not back, my break isn't over at the time of me writing this but I'm getting back into the swing of things and working on this story, still in therapy tho😉
