Campbell's POV
I uncomfortably watch Cassie dance drunkenly in the living room area with everyone else watching too, I look to Maddy who still has an attitude but it's whatever
Part of me feels like she believes me but I don't blame her for being mad, how can you even take the news of your best friend possibly fucking your abusive ex that you JUST made amends with
Plus I don't know Cassie or Nate personally but I still see through bullshit...most of the time
I sigh and text Cal over and over to see if he's ok, I've found myself caring about him more and more which I didn't expect, went from beating his ass and hate if him to caring about him and wanting to be around him
"Is she ok" I ask as i go to stop her but Maddy puts her hand on my stomach and rolls her eyes
"Just leave her...when she drink it's just tragic" Maddy says and I look at her carefully
"Are you actually mad at me...or are you in denial" I ask and Maddy sighs
"Campbell I'd really appreciate if you don't bring this up right now, I wanna have fun on my birthday and your claim is pissing me off" She says and I roll my eyes and move away from her
If she's finna be pissy with me than she can be pissy by her damn self, I walk over to the hot tub and get in along with Kat and BB
I look over and see Nate looking longingly at the house causing me to look in that direction to see him staring at Cassie
I shake my head as Nate gets in beside me and Maddy on my other side, she clings to me she stares daggers at Nate but her gaze goes down to her legs
My gut can't be wrong
We all start talking and joking while Nate stays relatively quiet, I watch as Cassie makes her drunk ass over to us and slips as she gets into the hot tub
As she does, I see her touch Nate a few times more than she needed to before settling down in her spot, the group laugh while I just watch and observe everything
"Happy birthday" Cassie says softly and Maddy smiles
"Thank you" She drags out
"I'm so happy you guys are together....sorry Nate" Kat says and I laugh a little
"She got lucky" He jokes causing me to look at him
"Yea...I definitely did" I say and Nate looks at me with a glare
"You did...I didn't want her anymore anyway" He says with the last part being under his breath but I heard him and I guess Maddy did too
"Excuse me?! Because that is far from the truth" Maddy says angrily as she leans up off my shoulder
"Nate what the fuck, you are seriously out of line" Kat says and I sigh
"Im just telling the truth...and didn't you fuck Campbell...whatever she's with Campbell now anyway" Nate says but his tone is lightly bitter, Kat sinks in her seat a bit as she can't exactly argue with him on that part
"Really because I didn't get that impression when you were constantly texting me and cornering...asking me to be with you again, leave my "freak girlfriend", telling me you wanna get married, want me to have your babies" Maddy rants off as I watch Cassie's face
She is staring at me like a deer in the headlights as she watches Maddy grab onto me and pull me closer, almost subconsciously
"Maddy it's whatever, that's in the past, why does it fucking matter" Nate argues back
"Nate lower your fucking tone when you talk to Maddy" Kat says and I sigh as Nate just ignores her
"You can stay bitter and be bitter somewhere else because I have someone who cares about me, who I want to marry, have a future with and I wanna have her kids" Maddy says tauntingly causing me to look at her briefly but not in a happy way
Suddenly we hear a gag and something hit the water in the hot tub, I look over to see Cassie throwing up and I immediately get out of the hot tub with Kat and Maddy who are trying not to throw up
"I'm sorry Maddy" Cassie cries as she is red in the face with embarrassment and emotion
"It's ok..it's ok" Maddy says as she tries to calm her down and gags, Suze and Lexi come out of the house and Suze runs over to her daughter
"Your best friend" Cassie cries as Suze lifts and drags her out of the hot tub with some struggle, I watch in second hand embarrassment and look to Lexi
She and I share a knowing look before I walk into the house and get Maddy and towel, I come back and wrap it around her
She goes to cuddle into me but I move away from her causing her to look at me
"What's your problem, I didn't get any on me " She asks and I shake my head
"Did you really have to use our future to taunt him like that" I say causing Maddy to sigh
"He was pissing me off, plus you know I want that with you" Maddy says and I shake my head
"Well it doesn't feel like it, ion like how you handled that" I say before walking off to the house as Cassie is dragged upstairs
She watches me with sad eyes and I shake my head at her before drying myself off and getting dressed
"Nathaniel let's go" I yell before grabbing my shit, making sure to leave the Megan tickets and storming out of the house, I've had enough of this shit, I need some space to think
I storm over to the car with Maddy, Lexi and Kat screaming for me but I ignore them, I turn around to see Maddy's sad face but then see Nate make his way out of the house
He looks at me and just nod to the passenger seat and he walks over and gets in, I get in to before speeding off down the road
"You know.....she's always been like this right" Nate says as we drive a familiar route
"Maybe with you but not with me" I say and he laughs
"You know....she does love you, just get your head out of your ass and see it" He says and I laugh angrily
"Really because you expect me to take this advice from someone who's fucking Maddy's best friend....and my rapist" I say causing Nate to look at me shocked but soon look away
We stop at a stop sign before I look over to him
"How do you know that" He says and I laugh manically causing him to look at me with genuine fear
"I saw you.....we're not too different Nathaniel...but I use my energy for good...now you have two choices" I start as I drive us to Anna's house
Nate adjust in his seat as he looks from the house to me
"You either go in there and break it off....break her little heart or.....I hurt you" I say as I pull out a knife from my pocket, Nate looks at me horrified before adjusting his demeanor
"I uh.....look Campbell you trying to scare me isn't gonna work" Nate says and I laugh before flicking the black knife out and putting the blade on his leg and slowly moving it up his leg causing him to shiver
"Fine fine....I'll go break it off..just chill out" He says before rushing out, I smile and move the car up as he walks up the driveway and to the door
I watch as the door opens and Anna smiles at him and tries to kiss him but he rejects her, I see her face turn to absolute heartbreak causing me to smile
I see him walk away as she cries at her doorstep, Nate gets back in and Anna looks in her car and her face changes to anger
I smile and wave before laughing and taking off down the street and to the house laughing, I breath in deep as I feel the relief wash over me
A/n oof uh totally don't need to talk in therapy soon...hahaha uh ima go lmao
