Campbell's POV
I get off the phone with Gia who tells me that Rue is depressed which makes sense as to why she's so manic lately and with Jules out of town, it's not helping
I hear a door slam and a knock on my door causing me to turn and see Cal entering my room, o put my phone away and look at him with my arms crossed
"I find it interesting how you found out about my mother before my father did" I say and he sighs and looks at the ground
"I have connections....and I've been keeping a close eye on her at all times, I still care about her Campbell" He says and I scoff
"Yea but how did she leave you when she was so admit that you guys were gonna be together" I say angrily as I feel tears coming down my face
"We were but.....I couldn't stand seeing her killing herself each day and she refused to stay clean......look I came here to tell you that the funeral planning is in motion and I need your help" He says and I just nod
"Thank you...Campbell and......I hope we can put the past aside, especially since I'm going to probably see you more often" He says before going to exit my room
"Wait...Cal" I say causing him to stop and look at me
"Did you mean it....when you said that you'd take down everyone that is protecting me and that....you were sorely disappointed in my existence" I ask as I feel the tears coming down my face
"I did......at the time I meant the part about taking you down but......I'm not disappointed that your here on this earth.....I'm just ashamed that I wasn't the one to raise you" He says before leaving my room and leaving me speechless
I lay on my bed and choke out a sob as I remember that night...the night I lost it and unleashed a person I don't want to meet again
Flashback to the very beginning of summer
I lay in bed as I watch YouTube on my phone, suddenly I get a text from an unknown number, I frown my eyebrows as I look at it from my screen
Unknown number: Meet me at the Jacobs house, ps it's mom
My eyes widen and I stand up instantly and put my shoes on and my keys to the house before running out my room and down the stairs
"Where are you going Campbell" My father says causing me to turn around and seem him with a dish towel and a plate in hand
"Oh I wanted to go for a run.....just around the block" I lie
"Ok well be home by a reasonable time and text me if you need anything, I'm gonna be with a friend" He says and I nod and head out the door
As I walk I start to question why I'm meeting at the Jacobs house, I don't wanna see Nate and I hope this isn't some sick prank
I get to the Jacobs house in no time and text my mom that I'm outside, almost right after I do, the door flies open and I see my mother standing on the other side
"Hey baby" She says and I smile and pull my mother into a hug, she hugs me back and kisses my cheek since I toward over her, she pulls back a bit and looks at me
"Your so beautiful and growing so fast" She says as she dresses my face, I smile as I kiss her forehead
"I missed you mom....I've missed you so much" I say and she pulls me inside and closes the door before pulling me further into the Jacobs house
