Chapter Eleven: Run in

Campbell's POV

I sit in my room throwing my baseball in the air mindlessly and catching it in my glove, I sight heavily as my phone dings causing me to catch the baseball and sit up

I pick my phone up and see Rue texted me

Rue❤️: wanna come to the roller rink with Jules, Lexi and I

I smile and text her sure before taking my glove off and putting it on my bed before taking my car keys and heading out, Marsha is "watching over" me in the time that my dad is staying in a hotel during the investigation

I get to my car and drive off to the rink and smirk when I see Jules,Rue and Lexi all standing outside

I get out and he's diver to them causing them to look at me

"Hey guys" I say awkwardly, they all say hi collectively and I look to Lexi who looks away from me a bit and I look away as well

We head in and get our skates, I feel my phone buzz causing me look and see Maddie text me saying she's very upset and she's driving

I immediately call her and walk away to talk

"Maddie what's wrong" I say tenderly

"I got into a stupid argument with my mom and she doesn't understand what I'm saying....where are you" She says sadly

"I'm with Rue, Jules and Lexi right now...where are you going" I say as I look behind me to see the girls looking at me

"I'm....I don't know I just needs someone" She says and I sigh, I wanna be there for her and I have been but I haven't had fun in so long

"Maddie just go to......sneak into my room, I'll be home as soon as I can" I say, I can hear her sniffing and crying still which breaks my heart

"Ok" She says and then hangs up, I sigh and put my phone away and turn to the girls

"What was that about...was it your dad" Rue says worriedly

"Nah....I'm good, let's skate and hopefully watch Jules fall on her ass" I say causing Jules to come for me as we both laugh

We all skate around and I spin around and skate like a pro, Rue and I used to come here as kids and skate, I also played arena hockey for a while

We all take a break and I call Maddie but receive no answer so text her saying we're going home soon

I say bye to the girls and tell Rue to check on Jules since she looks sad for some reason, I get into my car and drive home, I park the car and get out and go into the house

I head up to my room and open my door to see my window open and my bed sheets moved, I sigh as I throw my phone on my bed in frustration

I must have taken too long

I strip off my clothes and just lay in bed with a heavy feeling in my chest

I walk to the door with Rue as we get Jules for the Halloween party, I decided in a basic Vampire costume since I didn't really care to look good and well I like vampire diaries

(Campbell is dressed like Damon Salvatore obviously^^^)

"You ok" Rue asks and I just nod silently and she knocks in the door and Jules comes to the door smiling

"Wow....you look fucking amazing" Rue says blushing a little

"Thanks" Jukes says with a smile, she walks past us and you can smell the alcohol on her

"You smell like alcohol" Rue says and Jules just turns around a shrugs

"It's Halloween right.....let's go" She say sans I just follow her and Rue does the same, we get Lexi and Kat as well

Rue's Narration

I knew there was something wrong with Campbell that night, she was quiet and not really herself but I knew pushing her would make things worse and I didn't want that to happen

I wish I knew what happened earlier that day and maybe it would be different and I wish the same with Jules too

Something was definitely off

I sit on the couch at Daniels party just looking around, I hear Rue try to get my attention but I can't seem to bring myself to make conversation, almost like I can't move

"So Campbell what are you for Halloween" I hear Lexi asks

"A vampire" I say before looking forward again and getting up and walking away, I sigh and get a water from the kitchen

"So....looks like a sexy Vampire walked in" I hear behind me cause me to grip the refrigerator handle and slam it shut before turning around

"Looks like they now let rapist in....given that the host is dressed like Ted Bundy I'm not surprised" I say confidently

"Oh look how has an attitude" Anna says as she sips her drink and looks me up and down causing me to shift uncomfortably

"What do you want Anna......actually I don't care so fuck off well actually, go to jail" I say before shoulder checking her and walking off

"Can't do that when you were too pussy to press charges" I hear her yell causing me to turn around

"Too pussy.....wow that's rich coming from  the girl that was too selfish to take the word no" I say getting in her face

"I don't remember it like that" She says causing me blood to boil more

"You know you do......you just know the cops will take your side since well....you fucking the mayors son who you cheated on me with" I say irritatedly

"Details details.....where's your Latina bodyguard" She says bitterly

"She'll be here soon and she gon handle you again like she did before" I say before walking away

"We'll see bitch" She yells and I roll my eyes, I feel my heart racing as I walk away

I seemed confident but I wasn't, It was just a moment, almost the words she used to justify what happened to me

I decided to say fuck it, I chugged my water and got on the dance floor, I danced with a few drunk girls and was having a bit of fun which honestly I'm surprised by even if earlier today is still burned into my head

I go back to the drink table and take three shots in a row, I sigh as I feel a girl pull me onto the dance floor, she grinds onto me and I grind with her

She turns around and I just see the spitting image of a younger version of...

My mom
