Ch. 24
Alex
~~~~UNEDITED~~~~
"So, what do you think about a party tomorrow?" I asked Mason on the phone.
"What time?" Mason asked.
“I was thinking around six. After school,"
"Will your dad be there?"
"Totally. I would totally throw a party with my dad sitting right next to us.” My voice filled with sarcasm. “Now stop asking stupid questions and help me!"
Mason laughed into the phone. “It’s not hard, baby."
"I know. Are we still on for dinner?" I asked. It was going to be our first official date and I wanted to be sure of everything.
“Of course, but there was a slight change of plans,"
"Oh ok. Were you going to tell me?” I asked, slightly pissed off.
"I meant to tell you but I just…got wrapped up in our phone call.” Mason said. He was clearly embarrassed.
“So what are our new plans?”
“Well, my mom cooked lasagna and my family wants to meet you. So would you like to have dinner at my place?"
"Yeah, that sounds good!" I exclaimed, not as excited as I seemed to be. I was very self-confident, but I really wanted his parents to like me. I had only been dating Mason for a week or so, but I had known him for a while now.
"Can you get ready and be here by six?"
"Ok," I said, looking over at the clock to see I had a half an hour. "I’m going to get ready. Bye." I quickly hung up the phone and ran to the bathroom to fix my hair and touch up my make up, then change into something nice.
I figured a black mini skirt and tight fitting black and white shirt would do the trick. I really was psyched to meet his family, but I was honestly scared. I didn’t want another episode of when my father met Mason.
I finished up quickly and ran down the stairs. "You look beautiful," my dad said, startling me. He wasn’t supposed to be home until tomorrow or the next day. I wouldn’t have been home if I knew that he would have come home early.
"Dad, I...why are you here?"
"Because I decided I was going to be coming home early. Good thing, too, so I can see where you are sneaking off too."
“Come to ruin my life some more? You know exactly where I am going.”
“That I do. I cannot let you go. You already ran away from me. How was I to know where you were going? I could only assume that you were ok. Is that really what I deserve?”
“Why? What is so bad about me dating?! You give me no choice but to run away!” I yelled at him. This was so unreasonable.
“You are not going tonight.” He yelled at me. Yes, yelled. My father was never a man that would yell at me. He never yelled at anyone, unless he was doing business.
He grabbed my purse from off my shoulder, and grabbed my phone. “Give it to me!” I screamed. Why would he take my phone?
“Get in your room now!” Tears fell down my cheeks. He had never ever treated me like this. Why was he doing this to me?
I did as I was told and walked up to my room. I stopped right around the corner when I heard my dad talking to someone.
“Mason? Hi, this is Alex’s father. She will not be able to fulfill her plans with you tonight. For that matter, I thought I made myself clear when I said that I didn’t want you two dating. I want you to stay away from my daughter. I don’t want you to have any contact with her…Thank you for understanding.” Click. He hung up the phone and I hurried up to my room.
How could he do this? I couldn’t contact anyone. I couldn’t even apologize. My dad’s loud footsteps came right to my door.
He opened it and said, “I am leaving. I don’t want you to see Mason. I already took care of your plans for tonight, so I wouldn’t be worrying about that. Also, I informed the guards of your punishment and I put a lock on the computer so that you can only get onto the programs you use for school. You have to send a request if you want to go on the internet. One of my guards will see it fit that your request is accepted or denied quickly.
“I’m taking your phone and you are to have no contact with Mason. You are not to make plans either. I don’t want any parties.” His eyes stared into mine and I couldn’t help but let the rest of my tears fall.
“You really think that this is something that mom would do? All of this over a boy that you don’t want me to date? If you can come up with an actual reason why you don’t want me to date Mason, then please, enlighten me.” My tears had taken over me now. If my mom was here, none of this would have happened. Mom would never have let this happen…
“I don’t want you to bring your mother into this. Like it or not I am your father and I make the decision for you. I don’t want you seeing Mason and I don’t have to explain myself to you! You are not to see Mason. Understand?” My father’s face was cherry red with anger. There had been very few times that I could say that I had seen him like this.
I nodded my head yes, and he left my room, got in his car, and had his chauffer drive him away.
He didn’t even realize what he had ruined for me. Not only had he embarrassed me in front of Mason twice, he had also embarrassed me in front of his family. I was supposed to go to dinner with them. And now I blew them off because of my father. One thing I wouldn’t be doing was having that party.
