Chapter 24 ~

Jarell's POV

Dumating na ako sa cafe kung saan ko sinabi sa kanya na magkikita kami. I was nervous though I really don't know why. Di ko naman siya niyaya for a date, this is just a simple hang out between us as friends, but why am I anxious?. Maybe because I am hoping for other things to happen. Scratch that.

I ordered something to cool down myself. Iba na lang muna yung iisipin ko. Maya maya pa ay dumating na rin siya. We're wearing comfortable clothes because I told her to do so.

"H-hi, nag-antay ka ba ng matagal?"

"Huh? Ah hindi naman." Medyo lang.

Nagorder na lang kami ng snacks then tinake out na namin. Malayo pa kasi yung pupuntahan namin kaya mas magandang umalis na kami ngayon.

Sumakay kami ng bus papunta sa lugar na importante sa akin. I was still a kid when I first found out about that place and instantly, I fell in love with it. It is a place where my genuine memories was treasured.

"Saan ba kasi tayo pupunta?"

"Malalaman mo na lang pagdating natin."

"Ang daya mo naman eh."

"Madaya na kung madaya pero hindi ko pa rin sasabihin sa'yo."

"Then tell me the reason why you invited me on this trip?"

Natahimik ako. Bakit ko nga ba siya isinama? I myself don't want to admit it, ang sabihin pa kaya sa kanya. I just can't tell it to her. Not now.

"Jarell. Sige na."

"Just wait and see."

Buti naman at tinantanan niya na ang pangungulit sa akin. She focused herself in watching the sceneries from the window while I busied myself through listening to music. Hindi ko na namalayan that I dozed off to sleep.

Nagising ako nang maramdaman kong parang bumigat ang mga balikat ko. Then I found out that Nina was leaning on my shoulder while peacefully sleeping. Napansin kong malapit na pala kami sa pupuntahan namin, kaya dahan dahan kong tinapik ang mga balikat niya.

"Nina, wake up. Malapit na tayo."

She looked at me not knowing that she is  causing the gap between us to grow shorter. In an instant, my heart was beating relentlessly. She blinked twice and I awkwardly looked away. Ano ba 'tong nangyayare sa akin?

Bumaba na kami ng bus and started walking to the place where we are heading to.

"Okay lang ba sa'yo na maglakad ng malayo?"

"Oo naman, sanay naman akong maglakad eh."

"It's not just a normal walk though, We're going to trek."

"It's fine Jarell. Don't worry."

We're actually heading to our vacation house that was my late grandmother's favorite place. Irish and I often spend our summer here with Lola Rielle. One of my treasured memories as a child was made here. Since our parents were both busy with their work, we didn't really got the chance to spend some time as a family. I was glad that Lola Rielle gave us those memories.

After a long walk, we arrived at our vacation house. It took us a while since malayo yung mismong bahay sa bayan. Nakasalubong namin si Mang Fred.

"Hijo, bibisita ka pala ngayon. Pero bakit hindi ka nagpahatid kay Mar?"

"Birthday po kasi nung anak ni Kuya Mar ngayon kaya pinag-day off ko muna."

Si Kuya Mar, yung family driver kasi namin ang lagi kong kasama kapag nagpupunta ako dito. Yun nga lang hindi na ako nagpahatid sa kanya. Tsaka gusto ko rin maexperience yung adventure nang pagco commute.
