I had a date to the Yule Ball.

It was unconventional, sure, but it was purely platonic and frankly, I didn't mind. I personally was excited to feel, well, like a kid again.

It's not that I didn't mind the mature company of Severus, but I hadn't seen him as much lately and it made me realize I completely missed out on the last two years of my time at Hogwarts, though I don't blame Severus for any of it. One year I was depressed and the other I was petrified for most of.

But about my date.

I spent the rest of that day with Fred and George, god I hadn't laughed so much since god knows when.

I was a bit of a bad I fluence on them though, they missed the rest of their classes for that day. I don't think they minded.

By the time it was after school we had all ended up going to Hogsmeade, where the topic of the Yule Ball was brought up. Apparently, Fred had asked Angelina, and George, while he did know he could get a date, didn't feel like having one.

And when they asked me, though it was a dodgy question, I ultimately told them I'd be going but without a date.

So, they began going on about how surprised they were because I'm so great and if they were any older they would have snagged me immediately, and then Fred said,

"Bet you won't ask her right now, Georgie."

And George said,

"How much says if I do, she'll say yes?"

"5 Galleons."

And so I said,

"Y'know what, I'd love to go with you George. Besides, I think going with me gives you a good excuse to gloat."

And so it was settled that I'd be going with George. After that, he had started saying he couldn't wait to tell everyone that not only would he be going with a champion, but he snagged a pretty girl that was older than him.

The best part was that I could tell it was all in good nature, they weren't being gross or pervy.

I had ended up spending a lot of my free time with the Weasley twins, which in turn introduced me to some interactions with Harry and his friends. The Hermione girl was a bit obnoxious, but an enjoyable person nonetheless.

There was a point I actually had a "girl talk" with her and found out she was going with Viktor, which she enjoyed fawning over him without being surrounded by boys. I tried my best to understand her attraction to the man but I suppose I just couldn't.

My attraction was apparently with men in their late 30s who are my teachers.

Thinking about it now, I don't understand what it was about me that made him love me. I don't know when or why he saw me that way. I wasnt complaining but could I possibly have that turned a man like Severus Snape soft?

I carried the box Dumbledore had given me to the abandoned girl's bathroom. It was the only place I had privacy that wasn't with Severus, whomst when I was around, which was no longer very often, I didn't say much to. He didn't seem to have anything to say to me either.

I placed it on the sink and opened it. I should've known that Dumbledore would've gotten me something like this. He had style and a sense of flare.

I loved it.

"ooooOOOOH! What's that you've got there?" Myrtle said l, coming up beside me.

"It's a dress for tonight's ball," I told her, pulling it out of the box. God, it was fucking gorgeous. (I left inspo up top but imagine it however you'd like).
