The next day, right after school got out for the students I went up to the DADA classroom to see Professor Lupin. It was the first day of winter by my standards, it was already snowing. I knocked on the door for the classroom and got no answer.
So I opened the door and walked in, closing the door but leaving it open slightly.
"Professor Lupin?" I asked as I walked into the classroom and looking around. "Professor Lupin?" I called out again.
"I thought you were a student." The Professor said as he came down from his office. He started walking towards me, smiling. "What do I owe the pleasure, Professor L/N?" He asked, which sounded odd coming from another Professor.
"I was wondering if you could help me with something, actually." I scratched my neck and started pacing around the classroom.
"Of course, what do you need?" He said, I could tell he was watching me as I paced.
"A few days ago, I had an encounter with a Dementor. Unfortunately, I was unable to produce any form of the Patronus charm." I said as I looked out the window. "Do you think you could help me?" I looked back at him.
"Of course, of course. Let's start where you might have gone wrong." He stood next to me at the window, also looking out. "Did you hold your wand properly?"
"Of course."
"Did you think of your happiest memory?" I looked at Professor Lupin who looked at me with an eyebrow raised. I looked back out the window.
"No."
"Well, there you go." He walked away from the window and went towards an open area of his class. I followed him, taking out my wand. He stood across from me and nodded at me, as a go-ahead. This was much different compared to using it against a Dementor, but summoning the Patronus would be good enough.
"Now think of your happiest memory, and don't let go of it."
I nodded and closed my eyes. I won't lie, I already knew that I could think about any moment with Severus and it would count, but I chose our first kiss.
"Got it," I said, opening my eyes. I took a deep breath in and flicked my wand, "Expecto patronum." A light came out from the end of my wand and around us, it flowed about like a river. I watched as a(n) (Your Patronus) Pranced about the air as I held on to my memory. It went around us before disappearing once I stopped thinking of it.
"See, that wasn't so hard, now was it?" Professor Lupin said as he pat my shoulder. I chuckled as I put my wand away.
"Thank you, Professor," I said kind.
"Please, call me Remus."
"Right, I still have some of my old Student habits." I looked around the classroom.
"If I remember correctly you're Nineteen right? You've just come out from being a student?" Remus went over to a table and picked up a mug of something.
"That is true." I smiled lightly.
"How interesting, really. You must be quite the talented witch if Dumbledore wanted you so soon. Even if you are just assisting."
I looked over to a box off to the side.
"What's in there?"
"That, my friend, is a boggart. Have you had experience with one?" He asked as I leaned against the wall.
"I'm afraid I haven't. Though I'm quite curious as to what it would turn into. Riddikulus is the spell, correct?" I looked at the other Professor and he nodded.
"Someone does a lot of research." He noted.
"My last two years at Hogwarts as a student included a lot of reading." I looked back to the box. "Open it up, I want to have a go."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
Professor Lupin went over to the bok and unlocked it. I stood in front of it with my wand at the ready. What came out, was a hooded figure, a little tall and looming. It had white pale hands and its face was concealed.
"R-Ridikkulus!" I shouted, and the figure became an umbrella that came spinning to the ground.
Lupin put the Boggart away as I stood dumbfounded.
"What the hell was that?" I looked to Lupin who also seemed very confused.
"I don't know."
I apologize for the short chapter.
