January 9th:

I approached the castle quickly, I was in a hurry to get down to the dungeons.

I dropped my stuff off at my bed in the girls dormitories and then sprinted out of the Common Room. I wasn't aware that my old friends had watched the whole ordeal happen.

I went straight to the potions classroom with a parcel in my hands and knocked on the door harshly.  I waited anxiously for any sort of answer, to which I finally got one.

"Name and business." I heard Snapes voice say through the door.

"Your least favourite student here with a delivery," I said, a smile already seeping onto my lips.

A few seconds later the door opened to Snape, just as I knew him to be.

"Happy Birthday." I said calmly, not super flamboyant as some would have said it. I extended my hand out and offered hi the brown parcel. I was nervous to see what he would think of my gift. He raised an eyebrow at me while my smile still lingered on my face a bit. He walked back to his desk, leaving the door open as a way to welcome me in.

I stood across from him at the other side of his desk as he opened the gift. He pulled out black robes, similar to the ones he wore on a daily basis, but more sophisticated and decorative.

"I don't know when or even if you'd wear them, but I found them very fitting to your style and thought you'd might like them. If not I get it but-"

"It's a lovely gift Ms. L/N, thank you." He set the robes back in the box and kept it on his desk. I looked around his cluttered, but somehow still clean desk. That's when something bright caught my eye. In a very tiny vase, more like a vial, a white flower was held and put on his desk. I quickly recognized it.

"You kept it?" I asked the professor. He followed my eyes and saw that I was referring to the flower.

"Yes, I did." He confirmed.

"But why?" I asked again, genuinely confused as to why he did it.

"Because I thought it looked nice. Not to mention the charm on it is quite impressive and well done."

"Thank you." He nodded curtly after that, putting an end to that conversation. He seemed a bit more distant to me now. "Well have a good day professor."After that, I walked out of the classroom very suddenly.

SEVERUS'S POINT OF VIEW

I watched as Y/n walked out of the classroom. I sighed once the door closed and sat back in my seat.

The girl was driving my crazy... she was setting off parts of myself I didn't even know still worked. The way she was so easy to sympathise with, her personality was beautiful in its own light, and she made me feel more human again. It was all small, and even now I don't understand why I feel so protective of her.

But I know what made me come to my senses about all of it, and it was the letters. The fact that she even wanted to talk to me in the first place, and furthermore the fact that she seemed so happy to be talking to me. It made me feel... happy in some ways.

I looked to the little flower she gave to me, and then the robes. She was right they were indeed my taste, and she seemed to have gotten the right size as well, which impressed me as well.

I tapped my fingers on the desk in thought. She trusted me, considered me her friend, and here I was happy over some girl. A girl who was still so innocent to everything around her.

In this story, since you're year 6, you are 17. if your birthday is on a date that would make it so that you're still 16, congrats that would actually be you 18th. I know its weird but for story ouposes and not being all pedophile like, I have to.
