Chapter 8

Marathon

Our lives are a marathon, each have our own tracks and stay on it, never run someone else's lane, it is a path you must not take, only yours you must pave, our own goals to reach and destination to meet at the finish line.

Between life and death, we are constantly on the move, from one place to another, to love there is to love, to change what needs to be changed, and to build a world where we won't have to fear living and death.

By the end of the race, you won't bring with you your money, fame, success, and your loved ones; you will carry only yourself out into the void, but the good things you leave behind stays in their hearts.

There's a school building reaching up to six floors, the athletic field, dormitory, and swimming grounds.

But how were they able to turn this place into a maze?

They could be at the Teacher's Lounge but that's too obvious and I've been there before graduation, it's completely empty, nothing but desks and piles of books and papers.

Maybe there's another place where they are controlling the games. But where?

This is where most sports games are played where we get to watch like football, soccer, and racing.

"Stay on your guard, Cove. Lothaire warned while looking around the vicinity, assessing the situation and making theories on his mind.

"I'm always on my guard.

"Same here. I have to stay strong for her." He nodded while looking at the distant. Of course.

"They will most likely pick a race. A race is the most neutral for everyone dahil lahat tayo'y marunong tumakbo."

Another announcement.

Lothaire's prediction was right. It's a race.

There's a reason why he's a Grade A and still standing until today after the massacre, he is quick-witted, logical, smart, and calm.

As simple as it sounds, it's much more dangerous than what we went through in our PE class.
