Fluff

I had woken up particularly early and decided to cook breakfast for me and Duff. We weren't usually breakfast people. We were usually too busy. He was always at the studio, and I had work. But today was Sunday and we both happened to have today off, which never happens.

So, I kept my spandex on and grabbed one of Duff's shirts, which was long a baggy, and headed downstairs.  I decided on the usual breakfast, eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, fried bologna, the whole nine.
I put on the radio and changed it to the country station. Don't get me wrong, I love the rock and pop and everything in between, but country is a nice change every now and then.
There were only a few songs on that I knew, but the others were good background noise.

"Since when did we hire a chef?"
Duff asks stumbling into the kitchen. His hair a mess, him wearing what were probably last night's jeans and his CBGB shirt.

"Don't get too used to it. Ii just might fire her if breakfast isn't all that good."
I joked leaning up to peck his lips.

"Need help?"
He asks smiling like a goofball while looking down at me.

"I'm alright, just turn up the radio a little, please?"

"Yea babe."

He turned up the radio and I started frying the bacon and sausage links in a pan and frying the cut pieces of bologna in another. I had cut potatoes and put those in another pan moving them every couple minutes. Once everything was done, I grabbed some plates from the cabinet and made our plates when one of my favorite songs came on the radio.

Well, I said friend, don't take her she's all I've got

Please don't take her love away from me.

I'm telling you friend, don't take her she's all I've got

She's everything in life I'm ever gonna need.

I mouthed the words to the song I'd loved since the first time I'd heard it.
Duff smiled and took the plates from my hands and set them on the counter.

"Dance with me."
He said answering my confused expression.

I smiled and intertwined our fingers before wrapping the other arm around him, my head resting around his shoulder area.

She is life, when I want to live

She's everything to me in life, that life can give.

She's my water, when I need a drink

She's the first thought in my mind each time I try to think

"You know, when we get married, this could be our wedding song."
He said out of the blue.
I was surprised to say the least. We'd only been together for 2 years.

"You want to marry me?"
I asked craning my head to look up at him.

"Yup. Blow all the money you'll let me. It's just- I love you, you know? Fuck, I think about you all the time. And you're so beautiful, and kind, and patient. I see myself with you, forever."
He ranted, his green eyes filled with love and admiration.

"I love you too Duff, forever. I just didn't think you'd want to marry me."
I blushed.

"If you're not in it to marry then you're doing it wrong, 'least that's what I've been told."

"I'd marry you any day Duff."
I told him honestly.

He didn't reply, just leaned down and kissed me softly. With so much love I had to grab onto him, so I didn't fall. I reciprocated the kiss and we both smiled before breaking away.
We broke apart in time to hear the end of the song, which was always my favorite part.

Let me talk to ya friend,

Don't take her she's all I've got.

I said friend,

Don't take her love from me.

So, I know this was more lyrics than anything, but I heard this song on the radio this morning and was inspired. Also, I know I write a lot of Guns N Roses imagines, but I just find that it flows better. If anyone has any ideas for anyone in this book, please let me know. Thanks for reading!!!

Ps. song is Don't Take Her by Johnny Paycheck
