Fluff

🥁

Today was Steven and I's wedding day. And so far, everything had gone great. The reception was beautiful, the food was great, and now we're getting ready to do vows. I know they're usually done during the reception, but we wanted to do ours when we knew everyone from our families would be there. Especially since some had already told us they couldn't make it to the reception but would be there for everything else.

"Now, we'll bring the groom out to say his sappy words, then the bride, and then we'll party!"
Duff said into the microphone to get everyone's attention.

We all chuckled, and Duff handed the microphone to Steven and not-so-quietly told him "not to look stupid."

"Well, I, um, just wanted to start by saying thanks to everyone for comin' to the wedding. I know me and June-bug really love seeing everyone here. Um- I'm going to keep mine short, because, I wrote mine last night and ran out of paper in those little pads the hotel gives you."
Steven rushed out, chuckling at the end. He pulled out folded pieces of paper, dropped them, and quickly picked them up.

"Um, well, now they're out of order, but I'm going to go off of what I remember."
He laughed, still trying to put his papers in order.

"Here we go; I've got 'em now. When I first met June, I just remember thinking, 'Damn, I wonder if she has a boyfriend back home?" And to my luck, she didn't. From then on, I tried desperately to get her attention, y'know, without letting Duff know I had the hots for his sister."
Steven added, motioning to Duff, causing everyone to laugh.

"And, when she finally gave me the time of day, I tried my best to be nice. But, I guess I was too nice because then I became her best friend. Being in the friend zone did kinda suck, but it had its perks too. I became the person she ran to when things got rough with her other boyfriends, the guy friend who had sleepovers with her, and above all, the person she fell in love with."
He said, looking over at me, causing everyone to 'awe' and coo at his words.

"When June finally gave me a chance, we went on tour together, and I messed up. And I'll leave that open to interpretation. But June being the angel she is, gave me another chance. And we've been together since 1987. So, when I finally decided to man up, I bought her a ring. Then we set the date, and here I am. Married to the love of my life. I love you, Angel."
Steven finished, walking over and pressing a soft kiss to my lips. He handed the microphone over to me, and I walked to where Steven previously was.

"Well, I had a little more written down, but much like my husband, I waited until last night to write mine too. Wow, husband, it's gonna take me a minute to get used to that one."
I laughed.

"When I first met the band, Duff told me not to date any of them. Clearly, though, I didn't listen, because I became fast friends with his best friend. Steven was always there for me when things got rough. So Steven became my best friend, and then my boyfriend."
I paused and moved that page to the back of the makeshift stack I had.

"When Steven and I went on tour, and he messed up, I knew, without a doubt, that I was going to forgive him. Steven was, and still is, my one and only. I knew that what we had was not something I could easily replace or forget about. So I decided that forgiveness was the way to go. And I've never regretted my decision."
I said, looking over and Steven and shooting him a small smile.

"I'm not sure if many of you know this, but Steven actually proposed to me at an Aerosmith concert. Aerosmith is my favorite band, and it was the first time I'd ever seen them in concert. When Steven asked me to marry him, I didn't even let him finish the question. I just grabbed it straight from the box and put it on myself."
I laughed, causing everyone else to chuckle as well.
