Chapter 12 / Can't Win × and × Can't Lose

You, Hisoka, and Gittarackur had a detailed and slightly heated argument and by the time everyone had come to an agreement, everyone went to sleep and it was the next morning. As everyone was getting ready, you kept thinking about the conversation.

Flashback to last night:

"I don't mind being in a three-way relationship as long as I get to love up on you as much as Illumi does~" Hisoka suggests making you blush hard. "I agree with Hisoka but what do you think Y/n, it's all up to you.."

End of flashback.

You smile with a blush on your face. You know that even though you still barely know these men, you feel like you've known them all your life. As you're getting dressed, two pairs of hands touch you and you feel two kisses on your head, one from Hisoka and one from Illumi. "Good morning princess~"

"Good morning beautiful.." Illumi says. You fangirl on the inside, having butterflies in your tummy makes you blush hard. All of you finished getting dressed and ready for the final part of the exam.

In a large open building, Chairman Netero stands in front of all of us, body guard looking guys to his left and on the right was Buhara, Menchi, Beans, Lippo, and Mr. Satotz.

"Well lady and gentlemen, is everyone rested up? The Hunter Exam Selection Committee runs this hotel." Netero says.

'This is a hotel-?!'

"This place is all yours until the battles have concluded." One of the men in the black suits rolling a board that is covered in a sheet.

"For the Final Phase, we will be holding a one-on-one tournament." He pulls the sheet off of the board. Some of the men gasp quietly. "So only the last person standing passes?" Asks Leorio. "No. One win is all need to pass." Gon asks,"One?"

"Then, in this tournament..."

"The winners are removed from competition, while the losers continue up the bracket. In other words, the person who finishes at the top will not pass. Does everyone understand now?"

"So you're saying that one person will fail," Hanzo adds.

"Exactly. And here is the bracket." Chairman Netero pulls a sticker off the bottom of the board. Showing, who will fight who. It shows that Hanzo and Gon will fight first and later on Kurapika and Hisoka will fight. By looking at the board it's safe to assume that you will probably be fighting Hanzo or Gon.

"Impressive, right? After all, everyone has at least two chances to win."

"But some people, like #294 and #405, get five chances." Pokkle adds. "Why didn't you use a balanced bracket?" Asks Bodoro. "A question that must be on everyone's mind. This bracket was assembled based on your performance throughout the entire exam. Simple put, those who performed better received more chances," Netero explains.

"I'm not convinced. Can you explain how you scored our performances?" Asks Killua. Chairman Netero thinks for a moment before yelling making you flinch slightly. "NOOOPE!"

Killua immediately asks," Why not?" The Chairman laughs," Your scores are classified. I can't reveal your actual scores. But I can explain our methods. First, we consider three basic categories: physically strength, mental acuity, and overall impression.

For physical strength, we use an aggregate of agility, flexibility, endurance, and perception.

For mental acuity, we use an aggregate of resilience, adaptability, judgment, and creativity. However, this information is only used as a reference point. After all, you were all strong enough to advance to the Final Phase. However, we are most concerned with your overall impression. This refers to any intangible factors that can't be categorized. You should consider this an assessment of your potential as a Hunter. And we also incorporate the opinions of your peers. That was our process.

The rules of battle are quite simple. Weapons are allowed. No cheating. If your opponent admits defeat, you win. However! If you kill your opponent, you will be immediately disqualified. All remaining applicants will pass, and the exam will end. Are we clear?"

The body guard who pulled in the board announces," Let the Final Phase begin!"

The first fight was between Hanzo and Gon, it was brutal but Hanzo was the one who surrendered. You were absolutely livid, shaking with anger, you were the next to fight him. You whisper to Hisoka and Illumi to keep a tight hold on Prince if he starts to seem like he might join in.

"I'll be okay baby. Please don't get involved.." You kiss Prince's forehead, he just nods and watches you, eyes filled with worry. If you're being honest with yourself your anger dominated the fear because of your injury. You're still not fully recovered.

You walk to the middle of the room. You stand in front of Hanzo, anger filling your eyes. The referee says some words but you can't hear him. Then you hear, "Begin!" You immediately charge Hanzo quickly, catching him off guard with the bold move. You punch him in the stomach making him fly across the room.

You start walking towards him as he catches himself and charges you back, as tries to punch you in the face and you dodge it to the right and he immediately kicks you on the side where you had gotten shot at Trick Tower. Your eyes widen and you let out a loud scream as your flown across the room and hitting the back wall. You slid off the wall and into the floor. Your vision is blurry but you can feel bloodlust from a couple different people start to fill the room.

You try your hardest to get up quickly before Hanzo gets to you but it's too late, he punched you square in the jaw from an uppercut. You start to feel your eyes get heavy, you can feel a hot liquid pour down your side, you're bleeding out. Once you hit the ground, you start to pull all your energy into a finally hit on him. You start to put all your nen into your fist as you get up. Your legs start to wobble, you can barely see a thing, all you can hear is incoherent yelling and screaming. You punch with all of power. He goes flying and you feel your body let go...

"...I surrender.." you're able to whisper out to the referee.
