Chapter 32 / No × Good × NGL

"Mom!!~" You call you at your mom while laying in your bed. No answer. "Mom? Dad!! Do you know where mom is?" You get up while talking loudly to seemingly no one. There wasn't a response from your mom or dad which wasn't normal.

'Maybe they're out taking care of the animals?'

You checked the house twice before leaving to go to the sanctuary to see that maybe they were just somewhere in the house but they weren't. You took a 5 minute walk over to the sanctuary entrance and walk into the main office, immediately greeted by a lot of unfamiliar faces and some people that you recognized. Some people noticed you walk in and stared while others talked amongst each other.

You walk up to the young woman at the counter and smile brightly at her. "Hey Sarah! Have you seen my parents?" Sarah immediately snaps her head away from her computer when she hears your voice and gasps in shock to see you. "Y/n! I didn't know you would be coming in today? Your mom and dad? Yeah, they had some urgent matter with a new lion cub we just got today, he's really messed up with cuts and stuff from running away from some poachers."

Your eyes widen and heart drops hearing that. "Oh my God, poor baby~ How's he doing other than that?" You ask curiously leaning into the counter with your forearms. She sighs and shakes her head," He might be too aggressive to keep here unfortunately. If he's not able to get treatment from us or interact properly with the other lions and lionesses, we might have to euthanize him.." Sarah says sadly, not meeting your gaze.

"What? Why? Can't they just release him into a maybe more secure rooming area or even back into the wild!"

"Maybe, it's definitely possible but not with letting him into the wild. He's an albino baby lion Y/n, he won't survive long enough out there!" Your eyes widen more at hearing he's an albino baby lion.

"Oh geez.. Where is he? I want to see him!"

The bright white lion cub strikes violently at the fence where some staff stands while your parents stand near by talking to each other while watching the cub carefully. Your heart breaks at the sight of him. He's only aggressive because he's absolutely terrified right now, poor thing. "Hey Mom- Dad, how's he doing?" Everyone goes quiet hearing you suddenly talk, even the scared cub who is now staring at you intensely.

"We're not too sure.. Wanna give it a shot?" Your dad offers for you to maybe try and get close to the scared cub. It physically tenses up because calms down a bit when he looks at you again. You walk into one side of the gate which has another gate separating you and the cub. It immediately lunges at the gate but you don't flinch, you just calmly sit down in front of the gate which calms the cub down a bit, maybe seeing you not as so much as a threat anymore.

"Hi handsome little man.. I'm Y/n.." You say in a quiet and gentle voice while slowly holding the palm of your hand out near the fence so he could smell you. He cautiously crawls closer to the fence, sniffing the air towards your hand, not breaking eye contact from you. Once he smell the air, he immediately comes closer to the fence and sticks his snoot through it to get a better scent on you.

You slowly inch closer to his snoot before coming in contact with it, it startles him but he immediately calms down realizing what happened and rubs his face against the fence wanting more physical affection making your heart melt and smile softly.

You scoot closer to the fence making the cub back up and watch you carefully. "Hi Buddy.. I'm not gonna hurt you, okay? I just want you to get better so you can grow nice and big and strong!" You encourage the small cub while carefully putting your hand through the fence, shocking everyone and making your parents very tense. "Y/n, I don't think that's such a great idea-" Your Dad warns.
