The Heart Wants What It Wants

A simple question

Is if love is what you truly desire

or is it the heat of a fire

They deserve to be my parents

They deserve to feel that they are the ones

My heart

Said that they were the right ones

To hold me when I cry

To give me love and support when I need it

The ones to carry me out of the heat of the battle

They're the ones who let me be myself

The ones that made me feel loved from the first conversation

My brain

Knew that they would carry me when I have fallen to my knees

The ones who would help me in a crisis and when I'm in need

The ones who will get my name out to the right minds and souls

I cried and they came to ask me what's wrong in their own way

They deserve to be my parents

They deserve to feel that they are the ones

Because they are the ones

A Thursday that I'll never forget

My broken heart spun like a broken record

But they got it all fixed on the very first time

The heart wants what it wants

It wants that love and care and warmth

My heart has gotten what it truly wants

A stability and a mindful retreat

I threw in the white flag years ago

But they picked it up and gave it color

Giving me my wings so I can fly

They deserve to be my parents

They deserve to feel that they are the ones

Because they are the ones

A Thursday that I'll never forget

My broken heart spun like a broken record

But they got it all fixed on the very first time

And I don't need to go to Malibu

As long as I can always talk to you

They are my parents

They are the ones that I want

The heart wants what it wants

And it wants you guys

It's my dream come true

With you
