CHAPTER 10 - Crazy Bumping Into You

So as Jeff finishes packing for DC, he decided to stay in for the day and spend some time alone in the comforts of his home. He mostly spent it training Crania and replied to some emails, he did his chores and did a little reading. By six in the evening he started cooking his dinner and called his mother. And then suddenly, someone's knocking on his door.

Jeff told his mom that he'll call her back and walked to the door. As he opened it, he found a crying Jane on his doorstep. "Woah, what happened to you?" He asked and invited her inside. "I found out Richard is cheating on me with one of my bridesmaids." She cried out as Jeff rubs her back. "What? How?" He asked with a concerned tone. "We had rehearsals today and I see Richard coming out of the bathroom with a messy hair then Nina pops out of the bathroom too with a hickie on her neck." She continues to cry. Jeff wrapped his arms around Jane and he let her cry on his chest.

"Hey, everything's gonna be alright." Jeff whispered and kissed her cheek. "The wedding's over, I have no place to go and it feels like everything is falling apart." She cried out. "Janey, don't worry. You can stay here while I'm in DC, I'll help you get on your feet. And if possible, you can start moving out your things as soon as possible. I know a great realtor who can sell you an amazing pad." Jeff said politely. Jane nods and continues to cry while Jeff squirms. "Uhm, Janey, I have to check if the food's ready. I'll set you a plate." He said and walked to the kitchen.

As the lamb is about to get ready, he slowly puts it down on a big plate and put all the vegetables around the lamb. He also made some mashed potato. Then he sets the table for two, placed the lamb and mashed potato on the table and opened a bottle of wine. "Dinner is served!" He joked to make Jane laugh. He extended his arm to her and she gladly took it and pulled the chair for her before he sits down.

Jane looks at Jeff, "Thanks by the way." She said and wipes her tears off. "It's fine, I'm always here for you." He replied with a warm smile and she smiled back. As they ate, Jeff couldn't stop looking at Jane wondering if she's okay or not. He sympathized with her because he too knew how she felt - hurt.

Silence filled the room as they dined together. After the meal they both cleaned the dishes, Jane went out to the balcony to get some air while Jeff brought the wine outside. Jeff leans on the railings on his back while Jane leans on the railings with both her arms and looks into the city.

"I thought it would work this time, Jeff. I really thought it would." She said softly breaking the ice. Jeff pours some wine on both their glasses and he sips his. "I know how you feel." He replied. "No matter how loyal and faithful you are to someone, you never know if they are too." He added and looked at Jane.

She sips the wine and started to tear up, "Well, you do crazy things when you're in love." She said as her voice breaks. "Why do I always end up with guys who end up cheating on me and breaking my heart in the process?" She asked and looks at Jeff. "Like you said, you do crazy things when you're in love." He replied.

"Janey, he's going to be lost without you, he's gonna be torn about you so forget all the pain he's caused you and keep in mind that you're a strong woman for leaving the person you love the most and the person who can hurt you the most." He said. Jane hugged him and he hugged her back. Jeff, sighed, "Sometimes the person you want the most is the person you're better off without." He whispered. "I can't thank you enough, Jeff." She whispered and then Crania barked and barked at the door as the doorbell rang. Jeff kissed Jane's forehead and brought her inside to sit on the couch and walked to the door.

As he opened it, he sees... Camille. She looked like she was about to cry. "W-what are y-you doing here?" He asked. "I-I don't know." She replied while looking down. "Get out." He said coldly. "Did you read my letter?" She asked as she wiped a tear drop. "You can't just come here unannounced!" He snapped. "Jeff, I'm sorry." She said softly. "Well sorry is not good enough." He raised his voice at her and looking at her with no feelings at all.
