CHAPTER 25 - Big Boy Decisions

It was another normal day at work, and Jeff was pretty exhausted because he hasn't been home for six weeks. But today, he had a free day and so he decided to go home.

When he arrived, he noticed that the lights were opened even if he didn't open them so he took out one of his golf clubs from his small garage and went to the living room where a noise was heard. He snuck up on the person and then almost hit him with a gold club.

"What the hell, man!?" Jeff exclaimed. "I used the key from under your flower pot." He said now standing up and finished eating a chocolate bar. "Ahhh it's good to see you, Chase." Jeff said and they hugged. "I hope you don't mind me for eating your chocolate and what's with the golf club?" Chase asked. "I thought someone was broke in." Jeff replied. Chase nods his head, "Ahhh I see." He said and laughed.

Then they both go into the kitchen, "Did you just get back?" Jeff asked as he grabbed two beers from his refrigerator. "I got back last week." Chase replied. "Why didn't you tell me?" Jeff asked. "I had to do some things. Oh and I just heard your message like a couple of days ago." Chase answered. Jeff opens the beers and he gives one to Chase and they go up to his rooftop garden and drank there.

"So what's up? Why are you here?" Jeff asked. "It's Allie." Chase said. "You sly dog! You and Allie went to London for your honeymoon didn't you?" Jeff joked. Chase got serious now, "I didn't kiss her during New Year's, Jeff. And worst of all we had a huge fight." He said. Jeff was taken aback, "That's why you went radio silent for two months?" He asked. "Yeah and a lot of shit happened to me while I was in London too. Stacey, my ex she's fucking married now!" Chase said.

Then Jeff is caught up now then Chase sighed, "So I planned to tell Allie how I felt about her... But the minute I came home she was with someone else." He said and drank the beer. "So what happened? Did you tell her?" Jeff asked. "I did and it went really bad." Chase answered. "Why? What happened?" Jeff kept on asking.

Chase shook his head, "She told me she doesn't want to chase the footsteps of a broken man." He said. "Wow now that is deep." Jeff replied. "I didn't know she could conjure up those words, man." Chase said. "It hurt didn't it?" Jeff asked. "It didn't just hurt, it broke me more." Chase replied and looked down. "It's gonna be okay, man." Jeff said.

Chase sighed, "I just lost my chance of being happy, man." He said. "I waited for too long - two months to be exact to really get to know how I really felt. I was being selfish and stupid to think that she would've waited for me." He added.

Jeff had a concerned look on, "I tell you, waiting sucks. What a waste!" Chase said. "So you're saying that waiting would get me no where?" Jeff asked. "Look where it got me!" Chase wailed. "If you are interested in someone and you feel that that person is the one I suggest you get a move on or someone else will get a move on them." Chase said, so on point.

"But what about you though?" Jeff asked. "I'm sorry I've been putting my frustrations on you, Jeff." Chase said. Jeff was thinking about what Chase had said and took it under consideration. "I kinda like this girl I met..." Jeff trailed off. "Who?" Chase asked. "The girl I met in Rome." Jeff said and looked away. "Mia?!" Chase asked and Jeff nods.

"After all this time, has it always been Mia?" Chase asked. Jeff looks at Chase, "I think so." He said. "Think so or know so?" Chase asked. Jeff smiles palely, "I don't know." Jeff replied. "We've always felt unfinished." He said. Chase chugged the beer, "What are you doing here, then? Go and ask her out!" Chase said enthusiastically.

Jeff stayed silent, "Dude it's been more than two months since you broke it off Camille. I think you owe it to yourself and start over with someone like Mia." Chase said. "That's what you said about Jane!" Jeff replied. "No I didn't." Chase defended himself. "Well, it sounds the same." Jeff said.
