CHAPTER 31 - Roman Holiday

It was a normal Sunday afternoon at Jeff's house, he was finishing grading the finals of his students before everyone went for summer break and at the same time, he was talking to someone on the phone. Since it was around May it was quite warmer than usual, the AC was on and Mia was cooking up chocolate chip cookies for them to munch on in the kitchen.

After a while he took a break and went to go see what Mia was doing. "What're you making there, Mia?" He asked as he sat on the stool in front of her. "I'm making chocolate chip cookies." She replied with a smile. "Smells delicious!" He said and tasted the batter. "Mmm this is delicious." He said.

"What's the occasion? Why are you making cookies?" He asked. "Don't tell me you forgot again, Jeffrey Liam Sage." She said quite seriously. "Is it wrong that I'm turned on when you say my name like that? That was the sexiest thing ever." He flirted trying to fish answers from Mia. She rolled her eyes, "You know for a neurosurgeon you have bad memory, Jeff." She replied. "I know." He said.

"I know that it's Chase's birthday of course." Jeff said. Mia smiled, "Are you sure?" She made fun of him. "Yes! Hundred percent yes!" He replied and she nodded her head. "Woohoo!" He exclaimed. "So are we giving him cookies or something?" He asked. "Of course not. The cookies are our snacks. I thought you already got him a gift?" She replied. Jeff kept cool and knew he forgot, "Yeah! Speaking of gifts... I need to pick it up." He said.

She was skeptical, "There's no gift is there?" She asked. Jeff laughs, "Of course there is!" He replied. "What is it then?" She asked. "It's... It's a surprise." He said. She shook her head and laughed, "You have no gift." She said. Jeff looks down, "I have no gift." He sighed. Mia flashed a smug smile, "I knew you forgot so I bought one." She said. Jeff lit up, "What?! No way!" He exclaimed. "You mentioned that he travels a lot, right? Well I specially ordered a Domenico Vacca travel bag as his gift." She said.

Jeff goes to hug Mia and carry her to the living room where he showered her with kisses, "Oh my god, thank you so much! You are the best!" He said over and over again. Then they look at each other, "What would I do without you?" He said and she smiled then kissed him.

So she goes back to doing what she was doing and Jeff goes back to his office. As sat down and looked at his iMac, he received an email from his dad allowing him to use his private jet. Jeff contacts the pilot and tells him some things and was all set.

Then Mia enters his office, he quickly exited his email. "The cookies are ready, do you want some?" She asked bringing a plate of cookies and glass of milk. She sits on Jeff's lap, "I would love some." He said and she feeds him the cookie. Jeff drinks the milk, "Are you still grading?" She asked. He nods, "But I only got a few more 'til I'm done and can finish packing for Chase's birthday on Saturday." He said. "Packing? I thought we were just flying in and then out?" She asked. "Technically we are but we're gonna stay at our Hamptons home and I figured we should bring clothes just incase." He said acting coy. She strokes Jeff's cheek, "Okay whatever you say." She said.

Then he brings her in and hugged her tight, "I love you." He said. "Showing sudden affection, what do you want Dr. Sage?" She teased. "I want you!" He said and tickled her. She tickled him back and then fled to the living room. Jeff ran and followed her then grabs her by the waist and spun her around.

She wraps her arms around his neck, "I love you." She said. "I love you too." He said and they kiss. Then Jeff plays a slow song and they slow dance in the living room. After dancing and cuddling in the living room talking, they go back to what they were doing.

The next day, Jeff and Mia drove to the Hamptons for the weekend for Chase Everett's birthday on Saturday. They take turns in driving and stopped by towns to eat or go to the bathroom and has up the car.
