CHAPTER 24 - Who Am I?

"Great, just great. January is almost ending and Chase, my best friend, is in London and I don't know when he'll be back, Trip has a flight to somewhere, and I don't wanna talk to Bradley right now. Sigh, Crania, all I got is you." Jeff said to Crania as he fed her breakfast.

Then after he eats his breakfast, he grabs the newspaper on his doorstep and then went back inside and turned on the TV.

"World renowned neurosurgeon, Jeff Sage dumps his high school sweetheart just months before their Valentines Day wedding. Yes, that's right ladies, Dr. Jeff Sage is on the market once again..."

Jeff's eyes widen, "What the fuck!" He cried out to the TV. Then he reads page six;

"New York's best and brightest neurosurgeon, Jeff Sage breaks up with his fiancé a month before their wedding that was set on Valentines Day."

"Oh god no!" He raised his voice and then went to the kitchen to brew some coffee.

Then he calls up Jerry, "Jer, have you seen the news?! Did she release a statement?" He asked in a panicked tone. "Calm down! And yes, she released a statement. But as your lawyer and your brother, I advise you to just ignore this situation." Jerry replied.

Jeff took a deep breath, "Okay. But what they're saying is a little harsh, don't you think?" He said. "She may have made you the bad guy but at least it's the truth. You did break it off with her right?" Jerry asked. "But I don't wanna be the bad guy and yes, I did break it off." He answered. "Well, just ignore this and don't give out comments. In about a week, this will blow over." Jerry assured him. "Okay." Jeff said. "Alright, see you at the ballet tonight." Jerry said. "Okay, see you Jer." Jeff replied and then they drop the call.

"Ugh I completely forgot about the ballet tonight." Jeff said to himself. Then he goes into his office to do some paperwork and send some emails. After that he went to Central Park to walk Crania. As he holds on to her leash, he starts to think about Camille.

"God, if only she weren't so damn stubborn. If only she didn't go crazy. If only she loved me. Sigh." Jeff thought. And he kept on thinking and thinking about the situation. No matter what or how, he just couldn't seem to stop thinking about it.

Until, he accidentally lets go of Crania and she starts running. Jeff's eyes widen and then started running after Crania.

As he came from the east by 5th avenue, Crania runs towards a hidden place in Central Park called The Arsenal and jumps in the water. Jeff also jumps in the water and then finally grab holds of Crania... When suddenly a black French bulldog jumped too hitting Jeff in the head.

"Oooofffff!" Jeff cried out and was unbalanced for a while. He turned around and then found the black French bulldog in the water. "What the?" Jeff scratched his head.

"Oooorrrriiiiiooooonnnn!" Someone called out. Jeff grabbed both the dogs and got out of the water. "Oh my god!" The person cried out. Then he turns around only to see, "Mia?!" He said in shock. "Jeff?!" She was also surprised.

"Why are you soaking wet?" She asked trying hard not to laugh. Jeff smiles palely, "I'm guessing this belongs to you?" He asked carrying the black French bulldog. "Yes oh my god thank you so much!" She said and carefully got the dog from Jeff.

He puts down Crania as well and made sure to hold the leash tight. "So you have a French bulldog now?" He said as Mia kisses the dog. She nods, "Yeah." She replied. "What happened to Axis?" He asked. "My mom wanted to keep her in DC." She said with a smile. "And you bought that dog?" He asked. "My mom gave me Orion as a housewarming gift when I moved here." She said. "Orion?" He asked. "Yeah, his name is Orion like the NASA spacecraft." She answered with a smile and he nods.
