CHAPTER 32 - You, Me And A Surprise Makes Three

Ever since that trip to Rome, Jeff and Mia have been more in love than ever. Jeff would always call Mia when he gets the chance to have free time in the hospital or in between breaks when he's teaching. Mia has also surprised him at work bringing him food to eat or take him out for lunch.

They've been spending more and more time with each other as they'd have sleepovers at his place and sometimes at hers in the weekends.

They haven't told anyone about the engagement yet as they still have busy schedules like everyone else. And they are also waiting for the perfect time to tell everyone.

So it was just a normal weekend where Jeff was doing some emails and studying his patients conditions while Mia was focused on her research.

Jeff took a little break and decided to take a nap. A couple of minutes later, Mia sneakily went up to his room and found him snoring. She almost laughed out loud but held it in, then she took out her phone out and took a selfie. But it wasn't on silent, Jeff woke up and smiled.

"What're you doing?" He asked in a tired voice. "I think you should check your Facebook." She said. He sinks his face on the pillow and he extends his arm to Mia. She takes it and he pulls her in and she stumbles on the bed.

"Did you take pictures of me while I was napping?" He asked. "Yeah." She said with a laugh. Jeff tickles her and they both just enjoy laughing and having fun. Then they kiss and make out, but when Jeff took off his shirt, his phone rings.

At first he ignores it but it doesn't stop so he stops kissing Mia. "I better pick it up." He said. Then he answers, "Hello?" He said. "Okay. I will be there right away." He added then dropped the call. He turns to look at Mia and sits on the bed, she sighed knowing that he had to leave. "I have to go. My patient just got a stroke." He said as he puts on his shirt. "Okay, hurry and good luck." She said. He kisses her, "Thanks." He said and then left right away.

A couple of minutes later, Jeff arrives in the hospital and is informed that his patient needed to be operated. He quickly changes into his scrubs and ran to the operating room.

The surgery took long, it lasted for about a day and he returned home lunch time the next day. As he went inside his house, he took off his jacket and got the mail. He went and sat in the living room and sighed.

"Mia, are you home?" He raised his voice as he realized the house was quiet. Footsteps were heard, "You called?" She said. "Were you doing your research?" He asked then she sat next to him. "Yeah I was about to head out." She said. "How are you?" She asked. "I'm fine." He yawned. "I think I just need some sleep." He said. Mia kissed his cheek, "Go and rest." She said. "I can't. I have to read some papers and grade them." He replied. Mia looked at him in a concerned way, "Take it easy, Jeff." She said. Jeff hugged her and then looked through his mail, "I will." He said and then saw Trip's wedding invitation.

"Oh look, Trip's wedding invite." He said then showed it to Mia. "... You are cordially invited to the wedding of Trip Dalton McAllister and Amelia Isabelle Buckner on..." Jeff recited. "I'm so happy for them." Mia commented. "Would you go as my plus one?" He asked with a smile. "Why of course I will." She said and kissed him. "But I have to go." She ruined the moment. "No don't leave me." Jeff wailed. "I love you but I have to go." Mia said. Jeff pouts and lets go of Mia, "I love you." He said and she slowly leaves.

Then as he stood up, his phone rings again. "Hello?" He said. "Jeff, it's Trip." Trip replied. "Oh what's up Trip?" Jeff asked. "Are you free for dinner tonight?" Trip asked. "Yeah, I think I am. Why what's up?" Jeff asked. "Dinner at Walker's Bistro." Trip said cryptically. "Wait what?" Jeff asked and then Trip hung up.
