CHAPTER 17 - A Joining of Two

"Wow, you've hit the jackpot, Jeff!" Chase commented at how nice and big Jeff's townhouse was.

In a matter of three days, Jeff purchased a beautiful, big townhouse in Manhattan that is a couple of minutes away from Columbia and the hospital he works in. It was gorgeous inside and out, cozy and spacious. It has a to-die-for courtyard/backyard, foyer, mezzanine and has three floors with a gorgeous patio and views.

Chase, Bradley, Carlie (Chase's sister) and some workers helped Jeff move in. Carlie was the interior decorator and designer Jeff hired to decorate and renovate his new house. It really suited Jeff well.

After the boxes were unloaded in the house by the time it was sunset, Jeff bought pizza and beer and they eat in his new dining room. They clanked their beers and they eat pizza.

"I seriously cannot believe that you'll be living here alone." Carlie commented. "I figured, it's time to grow up." Jeff said. "Ouch now that just hurts." Chase said. "Yeah, what a dart to the heart." Bradley wailed. Jeff and Carlie laughed, "Aren't you guys tired of waiting in the elevator? Literally annoying next door neighbors?!" Jeff asked. "Well yeah but less expenses." Bradley replied. "You don't even have to keep it beautiful, you know what I mean? Like a penthouse apartment in Manhattan is already glamorous enough." Chase said.

"Okay you've made your point but this is a house! There's nothing better than this. Don't you agree, Carlie?" Jeff said. "As much as I adore this house, I love my penthouse more." She replied. "If you were living in LA or Brooklyn with a growing family, I would understand. But this is New York!" Bradley exclaimed. "And you're single!" Chase chimed in.

Carlie just laughed, "So? Women want men who knows the beauty of living in a Manhattan townhouse. Isn't that right, Carls?" Jeff replied. Before Carlie could speak, "That just screams, 'I want to settle down and make you my wife' which most women don't even want today." Bradley retorted. "I do want to settle down, don't you?!" Jeff asked. "In the future! Not when I'm in my early twenties." Chase answered. "I don't wanna settle down. Being with one woman for the rest of my life is just sad." Bradley said.

Jeff, Chase and Carlie shake their heads at Bradley. "What? I like my park avenue penthouse. No way am I gonna give that up for this!" Bradley said with a laugh. "Well someday soon, y'all will realize that living in a townhouse is better than living in a penthouse." Jeff said.

So they finish the pizza, talk some more and after cleaning up they all went back to their homes.

And the move in process begins. Jeff was still staying at his apartment (which he hasn't sold or sublet it yet) while renovations are being made to his new town house.

After two weeks, Jeff goes with Jonny to pick up and make adjustments to their suits. Jonny fits his suit, "Jeff don't forget, wedding rehearsals are tomorrow." He said while fixing his tie. "I can't believe you're getting married the day after tomorrow." Jeff said. Jonny was wearing a navy blue suit with a white inner and navy blue neck tie while Jeff's groomsmen attire was the same but no tie.

"How do I look?" Jonny asked as he wears the blazer. "Like a happy man." Jeff joked and Jonny laughs. Then Jerry enters and greets them both, "Dapper!" He said enthusiastically. "You sound so happy today, what's up?" Jonny asked while looking at the mirror. "Amanda and I can finally have some time to ourselves." Jerry replied. "Are the kids with grandpa and grandma Lennox?" Jeff asked. "Yes!" Jerry exclaimed and they all laugh.

"Hey they'll be walking at my wedding, Jer." Jonny said. "Don't worry, they're dropping them off at the Hamptons in the morning!" Jerry replied. "All the way from Maine?" Jeff asked. "No they're here in New York. Grandma Lennox has a meeting with her publisher." Jerry said with a smug. "Nice." Jeff said.
