CHAPTER 12 – Gone For The Weekend

A couple of days after Jane's outburst, things got weird and awkward between her and Jeff. It was never the same. Jeff tried his best to talk to Jane but she avoids him in every way she can, especially at work and at Jeff's home. Until one day Jeff decides to seek council from his best mate.

"Dude I don't know what's wrong with her. Like she doesn't speak to me at all and it's so obvious that she's avoiding me at work and at home. I don't know what to do." Jeff exclaimed then drank water.

"Why don't you just corner her and talk to her?" Chase said as he scribbles on his notepad while he rests his two feet on the coffee table. Yes, Jeff is in Chase's apartment/penthouse.

But before Jeff could speak, Allie comes bursting out of her room. "Chase, your underwear was in my laundry again! Please do your own next time and don't just sneak it in mine!" She shouted angrily at Chase and threw the underwear at his face. Jeff looked at her in shock, "Hey Allie." He greeted as Allie smiled at him and Jeff then turned his face in Chase's direction, "Remind me to never get on her bad side." Jeff joked and then Allie rolled her eyes and went back to her room.

Chase put the underwear to the side, "Dude, it has been two months and it's a nightmare!" Chase exclaimed as he threw the notepad on the table. "It's that bad?" Jeff asked. "What do you think? Random dudes come in and out of my penthouse. Her clothes are everywhere and don't even get me started about the noises she makes while doing it with someone." Chase aired out.

Jeff laughs, "Bro, clearly you two have some sexual tension." He joked and then laughed some more. "That isn't even funny, dickhead!" Chase replied and threw a pillow at Jeff.

"Anyways back to my Jane problem, I think she likes me." Jeff said. "Oh maybe she loves you." Chase suggested. "Loves me?! What the?!" Jeff exclaimed.

"Jeff, c'mon look at the facts; she's been in love with you since high school – physical-wise, she broke up with her fiancé and she's running to you. Why? Because she loves you. She became unsure f her ex fiancé the moment you let her back in your life." Chase said seriously.

"See? Everyone's got that part wrong. We were paired up in class, we hit it off, she became my friend then I got wasted at Freddy's party and shit got down. We had sex three times and that's it! I didn't wanna go public because she was just so..." Jeff trailed off. "Nerdy? Not Jeff material?" Chase suggested. "Jane!" Jeff said. "Jane was just so Jane?" Chase asked. "Yes!" Jeff agreed. "How?" Chase asked.

"She just couldn't be spontaneous enough, you know? She always had a plan, so uptight and so neurotic. Don't get me wrong, I love her as a friend but she was never the girlfriend type, she just wasn't enough for me." Jeff said.

"But if she wasn't enough for you, why are you so afraid to lose her?" Chase asked. Jeff was speechless when he heard that question. He didn't know what to say and he suddenly felt uneasy.

"I think maybe you do like her, maybe even love her but you're just so hung up on the Jane you once knew in high school. I mean, you wanted someone else back then, you wanted Camille. You put Cam on a pedestal because you thought she was the perfect girl and that all girls should be like her. Poor Janey could never compete or even amount to someone like Camille. But give her a chance, she might surprise you." Chase said.
