"So...the lifestyle." Shirtless, barefoot, and wearing white linen pajama pants, Aubrey set a pan on top of the glass stovetop and turned on the burner. "I'll start off with how I came into the lifestyle."
Destiny sat on a stool at the island counter with her hands clasped together in front of her mouth. She had asked if he needed help making breakfast, but he'd wanted her to pay attention to his words instead of focusing on making omelettes.
"For some reason, a lot of women I've come across think that this lifestyle appeals to me because I was abused as a child or had some dark, crazy past. That is the farthest thing from the truth." He walked over to the stainless steel refrigerator and pulled one of its doors open. He withdrew a carton of eggs and set it on the counter beside the fridge. "Because I'm a public figure, I can save you a lot of the backstory. You probably know most of it already. My parents split up when I was young. I spent my time between Toronto and Memphis. I'm not going to lie and say my life was easy. But I was loved, and I knew I was loved. I love my family now, and I loved them then." He continued to pull ingredients out of the refrigerator: margarine, tomatoes, mushrooms, green onions, cheese.
She watched him in fascination.
"A psychologist would probably dig up some reason as to how my interest in BDSM is tied to my childhood, but in my opinion, it's not. At all. I actually stumbled upon the lifestyle by chance." He arched a glance at her over his shoulder to make sure she was paying attention. Their eyes met and he smiled before turning his attention back to the vegetables he'd set on the counter. He walked them over to the sink and rinsed them off. He then opened one of the cabinets, removed a clear glass bowl, and set it on the counter. "There was an exotic dancer that I dated, back when I was an entertainer. Beautiful girl. And society has a stigma against exotic dancers, but she was a very smart girl. We had good chemistry, hit it off, one thing led to another, and we became...involved. The first few times were, as you'd call it, normal. Vanilla is generally the term used to describe what you call normal sex, or a normal lifestyle. Using the term 'normal' loosely, of course.
"My first few times with her were very vanilla. Enjoyable, though. Vanilla is what I was used to. But she slowly started to introduce kink into our relationship. I didn't notice it at first when it was happening. I just thought she was adventurous or experimental. But she later explained to me that it was a tactic she used to introduce men into what she called 'the lifestyle.'" He paused while removing an egg from the carton. He turned his head and looked at her. "If we go into the meaning of BDSM, the meaning of 'the lifestyle,' it can get very convoluted very quickly. The lifestyle means different things to different people. Some people just have kinky sex. The spanking, or they'll incorporate a paddle, or will blindfold each other. Others just like to feel pain or inflict pain on others. That would be the sadomasochism aspect. While others immerse themselves into an actual lifestyle, meaning that even the periods of time throughout the day when they're not having sex, they are still fulfilling their role as a Dominant or submissive." He cracked the egg in his hand against the edge of the counter and spilled its contents into the bowl. "Even for those who choose to live a lifestyle, there are many different ways for them to do that. It all depends on the couple. The lifestyle is ultimately what each couple makes it."
"Am I allowed to ask questions during this, Sir?" she asked him.
He smiled at her. "Very good, and yes."
"Is there a reason why you feel the need to live the lifestyle instead of just having kinky sex once in a while?" she asked him.
"That's a very good question, actually," he said, cracking another egg. "To answer that, I would need to finish my story. The exotic dancer that I dated, she slowly introduced me to the lifestyle. And she participated in the whole nine. The toys, the kink, she even took me to these sex clubs where we would...be intimate...in front of other people."
