Aubrey arched an eyebrow at Brian. "Oh, you have?" He turned and looked at Destiny. "You've been making friends without telling me?"

"After the salon, I went to a deli for lunch," she told him. "He was there."

"The girl I told you about yesterday," Brian said, finally shifting his gaze from Destiny to Aubrey. "The one I met on my lunch break, remember?"

A muscle in Aubrey's jaw twitched. "Ah."

Destiny frowned in confusion. Brian told Aubrey about meeting her?

"The girl who had the boyfriend," Brian said, his eyes sliding back over to Destiny.

    Aubrey stared hard at Brian.

Destiny wished that she could read his mind in that moment. There was a hard glint in his eyes that she'd only seen once - the night he'd fought Jordan. "Well...I guess the world is really that small," she said, trying to keep the mood light.

"You're telling me," Aubrey said. He said to Brian, "I want to make sure Destiny is introduced to the team. Get Zorica to train her."

Brian blinked and his thick brows furrowed. "Zorica? But...you said I was supposed to train her."

Aubrey shrugged nonchalantly. "I changed my mind. There are some projects I could use your feedback on."

Brian narrowed his eyes at Aubrey. "I mean...if that's what you want."

"It is," Aubrey said, the look in his eyes leaving no room for argument.

Brian looked between Aubrey and Destiny. Realization dawned on him and he smacked his own forehead. "You, Aubrey? You're the boyfriend?"

Aubrey cleared his throat and pointedly glanced over his shoulder.

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry...come in," Brian said, stepping back and allowing them into his office. He closed the door once Aubrey and Destiny were inside. Then he turned to face them. "You two are dating?"

"What we're doing isn't your concern," Aubrey advised.

    Brian's eyebrows shot up.

Destiny avoided looking at either of them, and instead busied herself with looking around the office. Also large, although not quite as large as Aubrey's. Modern-looking furniture, beautiful cherrywood cabinetry that housed a personal fridge. A wall of windows behind the desk, shedding a ton of natural light into the room.

    "Destiny?"

She whipped her head back around. Both men were looking at her expectantly. "I'm...sorry. If you asked me something, I didn't hear the question."

"I asked if you're ready to meet the team," Brian repeated.

    She nodded. "Yeah, sure."

The rest of the day, for the most part, was uneventful. She caught Brian staring at her throughout the day, and caught Aubrey watching Brian, which made her nervous. The rest of the public relations team was polite enough and let her know she could come to them with any questions. Zorica, a petite blonde with a Serbian accent, received the news that she would be training Destiny and took the news in stride.

On the ride home after work, Aubrey was quiet. That quiet didn't let up once they returned back to the condo. His nerves seemed to be on edge, so Destiny gave him his space. After putting on her collar, she busied herself with reading the unnecessarily ginormous employee handbook while lying on her stomach on the bed.
