Hours of kneeling. Hours of thinking. About...Aubrey. About...Brian. Even about Carlos, and wondering what he was doing with so much free time. Destiny felt like the worst hostess ever, but then again she hadn't had much time to coordinate anything, with his arrival to Toronto being unannounced. And hopefully Carlos understood, with the dire situation involving Graham Enterprises.
True to his word, Aubrey did ask for her input. He even explained what he was doing. "Our head of accounting some years back was fired under suspicion of foul play with misrepresenting our account reports," he informed her after giving her permission to look at him. He reclined back in his seat. "It hasn't been confirmed yet, but both Brian and I suspect that those are the reports Palmer got his hands on and forwarded to the media."
A million different responses jumped to mind.
He removed his glasses and touched one of the frame's arms to his bottom lip. "You may speak."
"If the accountant who submitted the reports was fired, then we should make a statement advising the media and public of that," she told him. "You did what you were supposed to, and way before Harry brought it to light. That would make the company look good."
He tilted his head towards her. "Yes, but it would also seem a bit convenient."
"Wouldn't the reports be dated?" she queried.
"Yes, in theory," he replied.
"Then we should release a statement," she told him.
His smile widened and put his glasses back on. "Before releasing any statements, what I am doing is combing over our accounting reports, dating back several years."
"You can't have someone else do that?" she asked him, frowning.
"I could," he answered, "but it's kind of hard for me to trust anyone else at the company right now. I want to. They're like family to me. But in the light of everything, and knowing that Palmer had to get the documents somehow...my trust is limited. For me to feel comfortable responding to any further allegations, I need to look over the reports with my own eyes."
"But reports dating back several years would take forever to go over," she mumbled, almost to herself.
"Hence why I'm forced to work when I would rather be teasing you, handcuffing you, and doing a number of other dirty things to you," he said, turning his attention back to his computer.
Her cheeks flushed and she dropped her gaze to the floor. "I really feel like I should be helping you. Like training could and should wait."
"Training is important," he said, sounding distracted while squinting his eyes at the numbers on his computer monitor. He grabbed a pen from the top of his desk and scribbled a note down on a notepad. "The training of a submissive is a priority."
"As high of a priority as your company?" she asked him, her tone giving away her thoughts on the matter.
He turned his head and looked down at her. "When it's you? Yes. Training you to be the best submissive you can be is as high of a priority as my company."
As shock registered on her face, he got back to work. She returned back to keeping her gaze lowered.
A few minutes later, without taking his eyes off of his computer monitor, he said, "I want to remind you that this lifestyle for me is more than just sexual kink. It's for more than taking you out to a sex club and fucking your brains out. With some of the interests I have, it's quite easy for those interests to overshadow just how much I value the lifestyle as a whole. In our past conversations about it, I told you that for me it's about trust and respect and not judging each other. Lowering inhibitions and just...being open and free with each other. Even though I'm still working on the opening up part."
