twenty nine.
Sunday went by as a blur. I spent pretty much the whole day locked inside my dormitory and didn't even come out to eat - which worried Draco to the point of him trying to force feed me Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans when I came into the common room to steal some ink from a sleeping and very unaware Slytherin.
Then, came Monday. Luckily for me, Defence Against The Dark Arts was the first lesson on my schedule. And so began my knowledge filled Monday morning.
Our subject of choice in DADA had coincidentally been Dementors, and today we were all preparing to attempt a Patronus Charm. I of course understood just how difficult this charm was to cast, yet I was unwilling to let myself fail, no matter how long it took me. I pondered over what form my patronus would take whilst having breakfast.
"You're not eatin' properly." Alex, who sat next to me with his usual gelled back hair curled over the top of his forehead, sighed with displeasure.
"And? That's none of your business." I replied, sticking my nose up at the food he was trying to get me to eat.
"Oh yeah it is. What's up with ya?"
"I don't know, I love food, I'm just not hungry."
"Well you've already lost a lot'a weight since last year, any more 'n' you'll barely be visible!" He protested, throwing a grape at me.
"Oh piss off Alex, I look fine the way I am, I'm comfortable with how I look."
"Then why don't ya show everyone ya real hair?" He smirked at me, knowing full well my hair contained visible strands of white blonde and was far more curly than I allowed it to be as it resembled my mothers; expect not as messy and evil-looking.
"Merlin, shut up! That's different. I'm not starving myself if that's what you're getting at."
"Fine, fine. Can't a friend be concerned?" He laughed, "At least eat a bloody apple."
"Fine." I replied rolling my eyes and taking a bite out of a brilliant red apple that had been provided to us. We then began to make our way through the castle to DADA.
I already had my wand ready when Remus gave us instructions of how to cast our Patronus Charm. He went in alphabetical order starting with Robin (who only managed a slight blueish tint at the end of her wand) moving on to Francis Chambers, Penelope Doyle, and then Alex - whose name had now officially been changed on the register from William.
"What's the first step again, sir?" Alex, who sat proudly slouching next to me, asked as he took out his wand coolly. It was very rare to see him in lessons so him getting involved in activities such as this impressed me.
"You have to think of a memory, a happy memory, the happiest you've ever felt. Focus on that thought only."
"Does seein' boobs count as a happy memory?" Alex smirked cockily, gaining a few laughs from the rest of the class and also a very hard smack on the back of the head from me. At that moment I regretted my earlier thought of him impressing me.
"Respect, Alex." I whispered warningly, he looked truly terrified and I was very proud of that. I sort of enjoyed striking a little fear into the hearts of people at times. Remus didn't seem to mind Alex's comment and actually chuckled with the rest of the class.
"Is that your happiest memory Mr Dunn, really?" Remus smirked.
"I'm not sure, maybe. I can't really think of anything." Alex shrugged, already giving up on trying. He was only bloody interested in music so school he didn't really mind failing.
