thirty two.
The original panic set within the pit of my stomach had quickly withered away due to the strange overexcitement of the people gathering in the Great Hall; whispers of questions regarding the certain Sirius Black travelled fast around the cluttered arena of students. It seemed as though we all felt safer in numbers.
"How'd ya reckon he got in?" Alex asked, appearing almost out of thin air and making my whole body jump.
"Do you mind!" I hit him with a delicate slap to which he found amusing, "It's not funny. And to answer your question I haven't a clue. There's no way he could get in logically, not without help."
"What do you mean by that Lestrange?" Percey Weasley who seemed to think he was in charge at this moment in time questioned upon overhearing our conversation.
"First of all, it's not nice to eavesdrop Percy, and what I mean is you can't apparate into Hogwarts and there are dementors at every entrance, they're surrounding the place, they'd have seen him immediately if he just wandering in. What if someone helped him?"
"Are you suggesting that someone in Hogwarts is helping Sirius Black? As in, a member of staff or a student?" Percy questioned further.
"Ye Perce, obviously that's what she's sayin'." Alex laughed, gathering sleeping bags for two. Percy still couldn't quite understand the concept of someone in Hogwarts helping out a criminal, despite this having happened before.
"You got a sleeping bag Lu?" Oliver asked as he joined in on our conversation. His hair was slightly messy, his tie and cloak disregarded and his white shirt hugging his chest, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He looked, well, gorgeous.
"Eeer yeah, Lex got me one, thanks." I smiled.
"Are you alright Lu? You look a bit ill?" He asked with a look of worry settled on his arched brows.
"Yeah, ya do look a bit off colour. You've eaten haven't ya? Ya gettin' enough sleep?" Alex fussed, laying down what I assumed was our sleeping bags.
"Yes both of you I'm fine," I laughed, "I think I just need some sleep."
"I think we all do," Percy agreed, "The lights are going out now! I want everyone in their sleeping bags and no more talking!" Percy raised his voice to gain the attention of the entire hall. The once lit candles immediately blew out enveloping the hall into darkness and silence.
The Great Hall was eerily quiet that night considering a number of students packed into it. The whole of the cold tiled floor was littered with sleeping bags, students crammed in amongst each other. Some were asleep. Some were in and out of slumber. Some were wide awake, including me.
The thought of Sirius in the building filled me with fear, yet, it simultaneously brought me some type of excitement. I had known Sirius as a child, yet no memories other than that of a swing set could form in my mind of the wanted man. It was almost as if the memories had been taken from me, removed from my mind so that any possible thought of him entering was replaced with an empty lost feeling within my heart. I just couldn't quiet explain the emotion.
I was tucked up inside a very large old blue sleeping bag, squashed up in between Alex - who at this moment in time had his mouth slightly open, tiny snores escaping and his hair dishevelled in front of his eyes - and a cold thickly bricked wall. The sky was clear tonight, the moonlight was hitting me right in the face through the huge glass windows, the wind whistling against the metal frames.
I couldn't sleep. Too many questions stirred in my mind. I thought about getting up, sneaking out, but what use would that be? Plus, being in my pyjamas would be a dead giveaway. It was at this point I realised, with my hair spread out wildly against my pillow, that my curly white strand had appeared and not by choice. I was normally very much in control of my morphing abilities and my white strand was not something I willingly chose to show, so what was that about?
