ten.

It had been a week since the party and Oliver had attempted to act normal around me again, obviously he didn't remember what happened. I acted as best as I could around him, only for the sake of our work, any other time I completely froze him out. It was getting to the point were Oliver would constantly ask if I was okay, I wasn't of course. He didn't even know what he had done. I hadn't told anyone but George.

Of course, Fred was always there to make me laugh and smile and George did that too but George was more sincere than Fred. They were both equally amazing obviously but I found George more reliable in the advice area. I had also written to Tonks about it. She said the same as Fred, he likes me. It was just, I couldn't see that in - as Oliver says - a "millillion" years. If he really liked me he wouldn't treat me like that. Drunk or not.

This weekend was Hogsmede. As it was nearing Christmas, the snow was in full bloom, adding a nice scenery for our trip. I had been saving my Galleons for months just so I could get everyone a gift. I had to buy eleven gifts after all.

I chose to spend the day alone, I preferred it as this way no-one or nothing could distract me from getting shopping for other people out of the way. First of all I went to Gringotts to collect some money and headed straight to Amanuensis Quills to buy some special name engraved quills for Lydia, Holland and Robin. I payed 9 galleons and 21 knuts for them and went to see if I could find anything nice for Andromeda and Ted. After finding a nice present for not only them but Tonks, Remus and a vegetarian cook book for Tyler, I headed to Quality Quidditch Supplies with what money I had left.

This was my favourite shop, I bought the twins new Beater bats to go with the Bertie Bott's every flavoured beans that I had purchased from Gambol & Japes, and Draco his very own Golden Snitch so he could practise with it. I was dying for him to be on the team. Whilst wandering around I spotted a Chudley Cannons jumper and frantically looked around for any Puddlemere ones. As I searched I didn't quite find what I was looking for, but something much much better. Quidditch Gloves, and not just any usual ones either. They were the most fitting and brilliant pair of Keeper gloves I had ever laid my eyes on. Black and leathery and a perfect fit for me.

I sighed as I noticed the price, the excitement that filled me vanished. If I wanted to buy Draco a present the Gloves were a no no. Once I had paid and left I ended up on a cold rock facing the Shrieking Shack. Suddenly - or not so suddenly as I had had the feeling since I left the shop - I had the strangest feeling that someone was watching me. I gripped tightly onto my wand as I made sure my feet were properly gripped to the ice cold floor and spun around quickly, my wand pointed at whoever was following me.

A pair of dark brown eyes met my icy grey ones, a calm scottish accent ascending around me and making me withdraw my wand.

"What do you want?" I asked, bitterly, taking my seat back on the cold rock.

"Just wanted to know if you're okay is all." He asked, unfortunately taking a seat next to me.

"I'm fine, will you stop asking me that?" I replied annoyed at his presence.

"Well, I don't believe you."

"Do you just look for confrontation?"

"Obviously," he replied sarcastically, "I've never known anyone to shop on there own and then proceed to sit on a rock surrounded by snow and be perfectly happy."

"Yeah well, now you do." I responded, shoving the bobble hat I had on my head further down to cover my eyebrows. Oliver giggled.

"What?" I asked in an annoyed tone.

"Nothing. You just look really cute in that hat." He complimented. I hid my blush, not falling for his nice act again. Not again.

"Oh shut up Wood, leave me alone will you?" I finally got out, regretting it instantly as the atmosphere around us turned awkward and the smile was wiped of his face.

It was silent for a while, no noise but the movement inside the Shrieking Shack and the small snow flakes that fell almost making me forget Oliver was beside me until he finally spoke up. "Why don't you like me?" He asked, sadness in his tone of voice.

"W-what? You're kidding me right?" I asked, not being able to believe what I was hearing.

"It's just, you've been really cold with me lately. More than usual. You don't even argue anymore. It's just that one minute we are getting along really well and the next we aren't and it's really confusing." He explained. I sighed, how was I suppose to explain how much of a dick he was when he was looking at me with big puppy dog eyes.

"Sorry." I replied stupidly, as if I was the one who had done something wrong, "it's just, the things you say are really mean."

"Me?" He raised his voice a little, "I'm the mean one?" He carried on and on and on and on about how I was the mean one, it did not make me feel any better.

Soon I was blanking him out, not worrying about whatever Oliver was saying, only focussing on a dark black figure that was gliding towards us, just like the one I saw in the Forbidden Forest.

"Wood." I whispered, standing up from the rock. He ignored me.

"Wood." I whispered a little more violently as I continued to back away from the rock. He ignore me again, his ranting continued.

"Oliver!" I almost cried, grabbing onto his arm, tears springing to my eyes as I realised what this creature was. Or who this person was.

He jumped back, wand at the ready, me standing behind him.

"Oliver, it's him, it's Volde-" As I voiced my worried he whispered my name, the tone sending shivers up my spine.

"Leave us alone!" I stood up to him, my wand pointed straight for him and to our surprise, he slithered away, only the silence surrounded us.

I wasn't all that surprised that he left us. It was a known fact that my mother and him were friends (if you could call it that) and she did not want me getting hurt. Not only that, but I'm sure Voldemort was way to weak. There was no-one else it could of been. All the pressure on Tonks lately was a sure sign something was happening. And all that to be topped off with Harry Potter? It had to have been Voldemort. That's why he killed the unicorn, he wanted to survive.

Everything Oliver had done was forgotten, I just wanted us to be safe. I grabbed his hands and my bags and led him quickly away.

"Oliver, we have to tell Dumbledore right away, this is huge, what if he gets into the castle. It's not safe here, we need to go back to Hogwarts quickly. It all makes sense now..." As I rambled on I noticed Oliver was very oddly silent.

I stopped and faced him, "Are you okay?" I asked worried as a scared look came over his face. "Is it because of him?" He shook his head.

"Well, sort of, I mean I just met The Dark Lord and stood up to him which is sort of...wow." He replied dazed, "and you..." He looked amazed but in a scared way.

"Is it because I said Oliver three times in a row?" I asked confused, "four." I corrected myself.

"No, but that was a plus." He smiled, "Lu, you spoke to him."

"Well, what else was I going to do? Let him kill us?"

"No Lu. It was the way you spoke to him. It wasn't English. You spoke like a- like a snake." He answered. My heart almost stopped. No, it couldn't be.

We walked the rest of the way back to Hogwarts in complete silence, both contemplating what had happened. And both of us not even daring to let go of the others hand.
