"Her hair is soft and her eyes are oh-so blue.

She's all the things a girl should be, but she's not you."

-She's Not You, Elvis Presley. 1960.

I woke up with energy which is something I haven't had in awhile. I felt happy again. It felt good. Knowing it was possible for me to move on and I was on my way to do so. I truly felt like I had moved on awhile ago and I just didn't know how to get rid of all the built up hurt. I've always been good at holding grudges.

Today was actually my day off and I was ready to enjoy it, which is why, I asked Lucy on a date. I know out of all the girls on the island I could have asked, Lily's roommate probably wasn't the best choice, but I couldn't help myself. Honestly, who could? Lucy was amazing. She was gorgeous and the kindest person who's ever lived, I was sure of it.

I had got up a bit early to take the dog out before I left and started my morning walk with her. Lucy and I were going out for lunch and although I seen her at dinner last night, I was excited to see her again. I needed to see her again if I'm being honest.

Sadie had stopped to sniff a bit at the corner of the block. I always disliked when she got to sniffing. She never knew when to stop and I didn't like to pull her along, it felt rude.

While Sadie continued to sniff for what felt like a life time, a car pulled up on the side of me at the red light. Out of curiosity, my eyes flickered up to see the car in front of me. I then realized it was that guy. The one who's been with Lily everywhere. Jared, I think it was.

I kept my head down while my eyes stayed up. He sat at the red light with one hand on the wheel while the other hand rubbed his chin. He didn't seem like her type, to be honest. But honestly what do I know? I don't really know her type. I actually don't know anyone she's ever been with besides myself. I guess it is still weird. At least to me. I looked back down and made sure my hood was pulled lower so he didn't see me.

Sadie had finished up sniffing and we were now walking again. We crossed the street and started making our way to Ricky's. As soon as we got to the other side of the street, the light had turned green and soon Jason made a turn and began to drive up the hill I was walking up. He then turned into the parking lot of Ricky's and parked pretty fast. I let out a defeated sigh as I walked up the rest of the hill and to Ricky's. As I reached the top, Jason was walking towards the door, patting himself down, checking if he had his wallet and stuff, I assume. He then opened the door and walked in, since I wasn't far behind, I caught the door as it was closing. Sadie and I walked in very slowly and went into the one of the aisle's while he went to the front counter.

"Hey Ricky!" he shouted. I then heard Ricky's familiar voice shout back.

"Jared! My man! How goes it? How ya doing?" Ricky's thick Italian accent asked.

"All's going well. I'm doing marvelous as of last night," Jared answered back very happy as he took out his wallet. My eyes continued to flicker up and down between the items in my hand and the interaction between Jared and Ricky.

"I'm guessing that British accent of yours finally got her," Ricky said. Jared then began to laugh while shaking his head.

"You know, everyone says it's the accent. It's starting to make me really question if she's my girlfriend now cause she likes me or likes the accent," Jared laughed while Ricky joined along.

Girlfriend?

God, that cut deep.

Girlfriend.. Why does that word bother me? She isn't mine and she can do what she wants. It makes no sense why I care right now, she has her own life the same way I have my own.
