"It's time to face the music, I'm no longer your muse.

But in another life, I would be your girl.

We'd keep all our promises, be us against the world."

-The One That Got Away, Katy Perry. 2010.

It was a week after Harry and Lucy had that strange encounter in our living room, but I'm glad it happened because I feel like it's just one step closer to moving on from Harry. He was taking up too much space in my mind and at this point, I needed to clear up that space for Jared. Jared was planning to take me to dinner that night and told me to dress up. He knew I wasn't one for dressing up, but I also knew he wasn't one for bargaining. He'd usually win. It was near 6:15pm and Jared was on his way over. Lucy seemed to be working overtime since she wasn't home yet which is strange since she was at the cafe today and normally, she'd be off by five. Only thing I could think of was it got busy and Rylie asked her to stay, which wasn't uncommon, it was just weird since she didn't call, since that's what she always did.

I then heard a knock and the front door opening.

"Hello?" I heard Jared's voice call out. I instantly smiled and ran out my room and down the hallway to meet him. As I entered the living room, his normal expression then turned into happy one.

"Hey you," he said setting down the flowers he had in his hand and opening up his arms for me. I quickly ran to him. As soon as his arms gripped onto me, he squeezed me tightly and lifted me from the ground.

"How are you darling?" he asked as he pulled away and looked into my eyes while he kept his hands on my waist while he swayed me back and forth softly.

"I'm okay," I smiled while following his pace as he swayed us. His happy smile then turned into a slightly concerned one as his hands now went from my waist to cupping my cheeks.

"Okay? Just okay? Why okay? Are you alright? Why aren't you great? Do we need to talk about it?" he said with a small joking tone while also being a bit serious. I laughed a bit at his reaction and moved one of his hands from my cheek to the front of my face and kissed it a bit.

"I'm fine," I said placing another kiss.

"Why just fine?"

"I'm hungry!" I exclaimed.

"Oh that's right!" he said throwing his head back dramatically. I laughed at his reaction as he continued to play along.

"My sincerest apologies your highness, shall we go?" he asked while he kept his hands on on my cheeks. I nodded but pulled away.

"I need my phone first," I said taking a step back.

"Allow me," he said pulling me back towards him and already walking in the direction of my room. As he was walking, he then stopped in his steps and turned around to me.

"On my bed," I said. His then blank expression turned into a disappointed one.

"Oh I knew that, I just wanted to make sure you knew how beautiful you looked," he said with a matter-of-fact tone. I rolled my eyes and let him continue to grab my phone. I then turned to the door to make sure I had my keys. After I had them in my hand, I turned around and Jared was already almost back in front of me with my phone in his hand. It seemed also too fast with how quickly he returned.

"Lucy's calling hun," he said quickly handing me the phone. My mouth formed to an 'O' shape as I took it and quickly answered.

"Hello?"
